6700 DI2 is clearly #2 better than 7900 and almost the same cost.
Some of us would rather spend money on looks related to bikes (the minor difference between 6700 and 7900 Di2) and then drive cars that lack soul or performance.

You are correct though that the R3 and the R5 are extremely similar in ride feel. Frankly I can't feel the difference. There's no way I would have gotten the R5 if the issue with the damaged frame and my planned ride hadn't forced the issue.
Since they are so similar, I kept the R5 with compact gearing 50/34 and a 11/28 cassette, and put a standard crank with a 12/27 on the R3, so I use that around town and on flat rides.
I never really considered getting an aero bike like the S2/3/5. My body shape and "aero" just do not go together without massive amounts of mocking. I get enough of that as it is.

Jim thanks for the information. I drop the chain on my Cervelo and was thinking about getting a catcher? Wonder if the chain drop issue is related to design issues? I have 7800 but added a 7900 compact crank.

Incorrect. I didn't buy it until the price had dropped about 35%. It had been out for 2+ years before I got it.
