Overnight Parking in Portland
We'll be staying a few nights at the Hilton in downtown Portland. They charge $22/night for parking, and I'd like to figure out an alternative, since we won't be using the car once we're there.
My preference would be to find some free street parking in an outlying (residential) area, park the car there, and ride my bike back into Portland. Is that feasible?
Another option would be the same idea with economy airport parking for $10/day.
Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Al

Parking at one of the outlying Max transit centers may be possible, but a car parked for several days might be towed or broken into. I would look at parking at one of the rental car lots near the airport. I've used the Budget lot a couple times, despite living only 10 minutes from the airport.
As a matter of fact, you could park at my place, which is in Vancouver, across the I-205 bridge from PDX.
FWIW: the map shows you riding in on Alderwood and then (later) Fremont. Both are narrow with lots of auto traffic. (Yeah, even in Portland.) I think it would be better to hang a right on Cornfoot, curve around and climb 47th and 42nd, then cross on Holman or Prescott/Skidmore to the Vancouver/Williams couplet.

Should be able to find free parking just east of the river downtown. Maybe check on the car (and move it) once and you'll be fine. Or there are a few lots not far from the Hilton that are in the $7-11 range for the day with free parking on the street at night (like Riverplace). Some lots might even allow overnight parking - I'm not sure.
