Bob Jackson touring
If anyone can help with the year and the value of the bike.
The frame ia in good shape, the decals are rubbed on one side. Reynolds 531ST. 61 cm
The components are probably not original:
Rear derailleur is Suntour Mountech, the front is a cheap Shimano with Shimano shifters.
Weinmann 700C wheels
Brakes: front Dia-Compe, rear Polygon, levers are Weinmann.
Stem SR, triple crank is Super Custom.
How should I rebuild the bike.
I have Shimano 600, 105, Suntour Cyclone.
Or??? Should I replace the shifter with a Simplex, so everything to be different on the bike?
Any advice is Ok.

...pretty sure these were sold as framesets. So it probably doesn't matter much what you use on it as long as it's a decent component. If you're reselling it, go with matching stuff.

Man, how does a bike like that, get to be a bike like that.
My advice;
Rotate the bars down, ditch the saddle, and shift the chain out of that gear. Then repost a picture.

Interesting that this bike was designed for bar ends or brifters. If looking to sell, I wouldn't change anything other than perhaps the shifters as braze ons look weird.
If keeping the bike, yeah I'd go with different components such as bar ends and a better quality 110/74 bcd crank.

Frame and fork are worth way more than the parts. I would sell that frame/fork alone and give the parts to the bike coop. I would have valued frame and fork around $200 but looks like this one on ebay just went for less.

I don't know much about this marque other than it's well respected amongst the touring crowd. Features on this frame suggest late 70's to me.

I agree with Spaghetti that this would probably fetch a higher price as a frameset (with bb and headset). The Reynolds decal and the ST variant of 531 tubing has me thinking '83, '84 or '86 on the year. '85 had a different decal (Reynolds 50th anniversary). I had a 1979 Bob Jackson. Very similar bike. Definitely a hardcore touring bike ... not my thing at all. But touring people love these bikes.
