Can it crank?

I would like to upgrade my crankset. I have an 8speed 1x with a Sora medium cage derailer and 11-34 cassette. Will a grx 600 crankset work

The crank I have is cheap broken, so I would like to buy something that might last. Anyone know of a 1x crank 40t to replace what I had?

I believe GRX moves the chainline out by 2.5mm (but that might just be for 2x) and increases Q factor by 2.5mm on each side. What crank do you have now? Shimano Sora? I didn’t know Sora came in a 1x configuration. I’m wondering what bottom bracket you currently have.

You could maybe look at Shimano urban cranks like Alfine and Metrea.

Smashndash, thanks for your response. I have searched the crank and can’t find a name brand or any markings. I guess it was so cheap they didn’t want to put a name on it. The Bottom bracket is square taper, but a friend says he will sell me the grx 600 crank and a hollowtech II BB for $120.00. Looking on the internet it looks like a good deal. I just didn’t know if it would work. I don’t race cyclocross, mostly bike packing on gravel. Are the Alfine and Metrea decent quality?

So the Alfine is the way to go I guess. The metrea costs more than my bike. Thanks Smashndash.
