Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Of course, if that's not allowed, we'll find out soon enough.

3. If under 25, I wear the thin runner's tights UNDER the thermal tights. That has me covered down to 10F which is as cold as it ever gets around here.
I have two sets of heavy, cycling specific, wind-front, tights, one for commuting (because they're baggy and say P (for Performance) on them) and one for the road (because they say "P" for some Shimano subsidiary). The Shimano P ones were very expensive, but are suprisingly good in the warmth, wind protection, and moisture handling categories. Interestingly, they have an odd smell, which has not gone away over the years.

I've had some closeout Rapha winter tights in my basket, but my newfound austerity () has me hesitating on them. They're still spendy, even on sale. I still might do them, but I'm going to check out some options at REI, Sierra, etc, first. There are 4x of the Rapha available, so I can prolly take at least a few days to make the decision.

Got it. Thanks for the clarity. The whole socialcyclists site was interesting while it lasted, but it did not seem to have enough traction to stay alive.

I also have radiation damage to my intestines and rear end, I'll spare you the details, but my gastro guy also started me on a special diet and it's been great for my gastro problems but the two diets don't always mesh well. Basically, I have a relatively sparse menu to choose from and I'm basically a vegi-turkian and even then, I have to avoid a lot of veggies and fruits.

Besides the 40#, my A1C has fallen a whole number to 5.6 since April. I see my doc tomorrow but she already called me last week to congratulate me with the results. I didn't tell her about the weight loss so maybe I'll get kudos and a lollipop tomorrow for that, too.

I've got some other relatively serious issues but I feel great at the moment and enjoy every day.
Kudos.

Heh, I was not aware of that. But I can guess who the disgruntled vermin was who gave Tom grief. I never bothered to do more than poke my head in once in a blue moon over there, I was just glad we were rid of that vermin fellow. Good times.

I had to google that for the low-down. Funny how he got away with it back then.
