Let’s see some Autumn leaves... & bikes!!!
While I’ve been in walking mode lately more than I’ve been riding, I did go out for a spin today. Took a long roundabout way to the grocery store. Just as I’ve given much appreciative attention to the autumn foliage on my walks lately, I was also taken back by the many beautiful colors, and textures as I rode trough. Lobed leaves, serrated leaves, spade shaped leaves. All earthy shades of yellow, red, orange, brown. Big leaves, tiny leaves. Leaves on the branch, and leaves on the ground. Leaves spiraling downward, slowly in mid air. Piles of leaves!
It got me to thinking that this show of change is but a passing moment in time, a cyclic phase, and that the scenery will soon turn to darker, drab silvery gray winter colors, maybe contrasted with the brightness of snow. Eventually, spring will lead us into a fresh restart!
And I wondered how autumn is looking where you live. So if you’ve got any recent fall photos, or happen to snap any before the season passes, then...

Sadly, we didn't get autumn here. It went straight from "almost fall" to "deep winter" in 48 hours. Ground is covered with green leaves.

^^^^^ Same thing in WI, except the green leaves all over the ground are covered with snow. It went UP to freezing today, for the first time all week.

The arctic blast we just got pretty much ruined it for this year, but normally the little maple in my front yard puts on a spectacular show. No bike in the pic, none I have can compete with that.

No leaves to show, this year. But this autumn sunrise prompted me to do one last Canada ride. Sadly, I blew my knee out later that day (not riding - carrying firewood). Riding is over for a while but these Canadian sunrises just keep coming back every morning, until it gets too cold for the sun to do its thing...

Nice mixture of fall colors getting shared. And some nice bikes finding their way into the mix as well.
As for the two fellas who’s area experiences a quick jump from summer to winter, I’m sorry you all miss the colorful autumn transition. I imagine that your climates must offer some other gifts that can’t be found everywhere else.
I love the trees, the open road, the Columbia Gorge, the action shot, the sunrise... all sheared so far! I’d be lying though if I said that the spoked wreath shared by @noglider didn’t come as the coolest surprise 😂

Peak colors about 2-3 weeks later than normal here and the trees did not do a good job of coordinating color changes to occur together. This pic is from last week, last day before the freeze blast. Looking on the bright side of the cold snap though, at least this year I did some raking in cold weather, rather than sweating in shorts and t-shirt.

On Tuesday, the polar vortex came through New York. That night, all the leaves came off all the gingko trees, and we have a lot in my neighborhood. Some sidewalks and cars were totally blanketed.

Same thing with the Ginko street trees on my street. First hard frost night and all the leaves come down no matter what state of color change they are in. This year they were at least yellow.
