That's a Canadian market Superbe, usually from around '61. Green, red, blue, gray and now black is on the list.

I live in Canada but have only seen the traditional colours. I've refurbished/restored quite a few British and Canadian Raleighs over the years, mostly Sprites and Superbes.

The SA three speed hub is a '69 and the serial suggests 1970. As a bonus, this one came with TWO fork keys. That's never happened before.

I'd suspect the rear wheel is a replacement, there appears to be less rust on the rear rim. By 1970 you would have seen reflectors on the pedals too. Is there a date on the front hub? I've owned three of these colourful Superbes and inspected another 3 in person and none of them dated past 1961.

There's a number of them that have appeared in the Love of English 3 Speed thread. Here's a pair of 61's.

That's almost certainly a 1957. That was the year of the "white flash" head tube for almost anything and everything Raleigh made. And it lasted but a year as I suspect the masking etc to achieve it made no friends in the paint shop.

This has to qualify as post of the day.

Great, albeit obscure, information is always found here!
