Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Well there you have it. I have an MA40. A tough rim to mount modern tires to. I'll put it on my gravel bike and see what I can do about taking on some water

I very rarely stumble into the 41. And no. I've never heard of water intrusion in rims.

It doesn't happen easily. I haven't done a ton of wet weather road riding but it takes a pretty hard storm with deep puddles.

Forgot to ask LAJ how his decorating is coming along.

Anyway, I was humming this song on the lawn today.

It's beginning to look a lot like hell here. 92 degrees today, and Weather Underground says, "Tomorrow is predicted to be much warmer than today"

Tomorrow's a WFH day. No Zoom before 10. Think I'll ride first thing.

Stephen was chasing a spotted lantern fly around the deck. I finally stomped it after he tried several times to eat it.

Mrs. LAJ likely isn't doing her Halloween stuff this year. I'm sure it'll be cancelled, and it's not like people drive around looking at Halloween decorations yet. Christmas, I think I found a few more new dogs, and I expect that'll be be full steam ahead. Decorations make people happy, and dogs make even more people happy, so why not.

Kitsch notwithstanding.

I guess the knuckle was dislocated? I never had that happen before. Has anyone else?

It wasn't painful. After two or three minutes of trying to figure out what was going on I pulled it in a certain way and it went back to "normal" (again, with little pain, which was actually kind of worrying).

I don't know if it's just a freak thing or, more concerningly, a sign that RA may be messing up my finger joints.
