Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bianchi paint *update*

Well, it took two days, but my friend and i used steel wool to take the topcoat off most of the paint. We then sprayed about 3-4 coats over all the areas that needed to be touched up...

Today we're going to clearcoat it, and be done with it. It really looks pretty good, the new paint matches the old perfectly. Will post pictures once everything is done.

Actually, it wasn't all that easy. At first i was spraying way too much paint, making it look splotchy and ugly. I pretty much ruined the original paint. We had to start over from there, which is probably why it took 2 days. I suck at painting.

I would really like to see the photogs. If you have some close ups of the fork crown and lugs, include those. And some before photogs also.

are you painting the bianchi with the celeste paint? I hope you are... I think it would be sacrelidge to not do so! They sell it at bianchiusa.com. They also sell the decals...it'll be just like new!

I agree. A bianchi without celeste paint is like a ferrari without red paint.

Funny I am perfectly happy with my non celeste Bianchi. In fact it rides no different than the celeste one I chose it over!

My Bianchi is Italian Racing Red. This colour would look good on a Ferrari too!

TO be honest I have a red one also and I would not want her any other way, it nice to be the odd cat on the bad ass bike...... Plus makes people do a double take when they see the name Bianchi and then red .... right as you pass them... But I do have the Celest striped wheels so I am staying true to a point.

My 2003 Bianchi San-Remo's original color is not Celeste. The LBS guy called it "Celeste like". It's kind of a pastel Celeste. I like it!

OH yeah, i thought i let everyone know that i bought celeste green touchup paint from bianchi's website. I guess not.

Well it's looking really really good. I decided to go with a veloce triple set. The order is about to go in. I also decided against going with campagnolo scirocco wheels because: A. I am poor and B. I'm going to be doing a lot of city riding so i don't want to ruin a pair of nice wheels. I'm just going to get a regular set of wheels built with dt spokes/nipples and FIR NET 97 rims, whatever those are.

But i got celeste cork wrap for the handlebars. There's also like no scratches or anything on the frame anymore. It's pretty immaculate. I can't wait to ride it.

Has anyone tried repainting or touching up a Titanium frame? I was told that it's difficult to do so. Anyone ever tried it before?
