Sounds like next week is going to be a hot one

When the heat hits I try to stay by the beach as much as possible. On those hot days I start at El Dorado Park, South on the SGRT and then PCH down to the Huntington Beach pier and back. I try to start out between 06:00 and 06:30 and get home before the real heat hits.

Whatever you do, don't head this way-- we're looking at overnight lows in the 70s. Also expecting triple digits for the next... 3 weeks or so. I just lean into it. Sub-100 barely feels hot anymore. Low 90s is a cakewalk.

When we left El Dorado Park (06:45) it was 67 and when we got home about 1 1/2 hours later it was 79. It was actually quite pleasant down at Bolsa Chica. We stopped there a little longer than usual because of the nice temps.

Really quite nice riding down the coast from Dana Point to Oceanside yesterday. You could increasingly feel that cool ocean breeze as we came down from Lake Forest, and there was a marine layer, to boot.

Rode Hwy 39 from Azusa to Crystal Lake on Saturday morning. It was 96 when I got back to the car. On the uphill, sweat was was my worst problem - I had to ride without my helmet, just so I could see.

I started doing a lot Crystal Lake summer ride. The training was very rewarding. You'll be making a lot of PRs in the fall. Make sure to stay hydrated, and don't lose too much weight (=muscle mass). You'll also be able to beat stronger coaster hills climbers (Palos Verdes, Malibu.....) on a very hot day.

Doesn't seem too bad. Looks like next week will be a lot cooler. What do you think of the MUP?

I did my ride ^^ this morning but only made it down to Seapoint (not all the way to the pier). It was quite pleasant. I left the house around 06:20 today.

If you're talking about the SGRT, it's nearly deserted at that time in the morning. Not a bad portion of the ride at all. The remainder of the ride I stick to PCH.

I hear you. First time I've ridden all the way up. Previously I have been starting at West Fork and either continuing on to Islip Pass or just Crystal Lake for a cup of chili. Thank goodness for Coldbrook campsite for fresh water, otherwise i couldn't make it. I sat in the shade for 10 mins to cool down and eat my banana.
