Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wow. How'd you get into cycling? and 310m, how many hours do you do a week? That's some crazy stuff man, but you have real skill. How do you train and eat? I just want to know, because there are few like you, who are actually really good but do not have a specific training structure. Keep it up man, you're going to be an inspiration one day.

Im 16 years old coming into 1st road season (did cyclocross a few moths ago) and I love it. I train 5 days a week 2 hours a day and am hoping for a top 3 finish in the DC, VA, MD bar standings. Hope the hard work pays off haha.

i got into cycling pretty much through neccesity, in year 10 i got a ride to school
with this kid and his parents, but some events occured that let to me pushing him over and stuffing him with leaves.
so no more freeriden...
dad told me that from now on i was findin my own way to skool so i dusted off his 12 speed.
after 6 months of that my friends(all cyclist) told me to give racing a go.
so 2010 was my first serious year and i ended up doin pretty well.
last year i didnt really have a plan but this year i do and i think i will do even better this year.
not sure of the hours i average about 30 during my 500km

Good for you, man. Good that you have goals but I would say don't expect too much of yourself. Stay positive, have fun training, do not think of it as work or a job. Otherwise you get tired, especially if you can not meet your goals..

Congrats headshock!

While I haven't been riding much lately, all the hard work in school has paid some dividends. I got all of my UCAS Offers, so if (when) MIT rejects me, I have St. Andrews to fall back on. Hardly a bad choice to have!

This weekend i raced In the Georgia Cup. Took 2nd place in juniors both days. For my first two races of the year I am pretty happy with the results. I did a lot of winter miles this year and devoted much more time to training and it showed.

Been trying to get my little brother to want to race - he's 14 this year. Is there much of a turnout for that bracket?

He's much happier mountain biking over road biking, though he enjoys both. I'm thrilled.

Hey guys. I race 17/18 in Southern California. This is my first year racing and I'm loving it. I hope to be a cat 3 by the end of the season. I just finished my first stage race. It was a blast.

Alex, if he's more thrilled about mountain biking he should race cross country.

I race cross country on a rigid single speed with all the old powerhouses. It's great fun, to be honest.
