Good bike or bad bike?
So recently I got into road biking. I've been to several cycle shops, tried drop-downs, flat-bars and I really like drop-downs. I'm looking for something that I could take to school and back and lomg jorneys on the weekends. So my very serious road-biking friends found me a bike:https://www.wiggle.co.uk/giant-defy-4...ource=googleps. Is it good? And also there are two places where I can get it from; one is Wiggle for £400 and the other is J E JamesCycles for £375. Should I get it and from which site.

Neil, Can you walk into either shop to assure fit? If not, go with the less expensive. Giant bikes are good, you shouldn't have any problems.

Thanks Brad, and yeah I tried some bikes at my bike shop, they were £1500 but in size 53cm it was a really good fit and the guys at all the shops said I could fit into anything up to 54cm. I'm 5"6 and 14 so I should grow into a 54.

Do you have access to a local bike shop? Fit is first and foremost to enable you to enjoy and be comfortable on the ride. With that said, Giant bicycles are great bicycles, but an improper fitting bike is worth nothing.

If you're only 14 and plan on using the bike for a while it may be a good idea to get the 54cm then, unless you aren't going to be growing much more. The Giant seems like a decent entry level bike though. Just make sure you get the right size.
I'm 5' 7.25" and ride a 52cm. I can ride a 54cm, but prefer the 52cm. More importantly though, you want to look at the top tube measurement.

Go for the 53.5. In your case it should fit you just fine plus if you grow a bit more it will still fit you just fine.
