Trek Sale PSA - 7.2FX

I have spent a lot of time lurking and reading here, and reached the decision to buy a 7.2FX based largely on what I read here. So, today I went into the store in Chattanooga to make the purchase. Here is where the PSA comes in. The bike was priced at $489, which I was prepared to pay. However, the sales guy there told me that a starts on the first of March. That bike, specifically, is going to be on sale for $399. I wanted the bike today, but not enough to throw away a $90 savings. So I went ahead and made the purchase today (well, I paid half anyway) but will have to wait until Tuesday to pick it up.

So, anyone looking to buy that bike, or possibly some other one from Trek, hold out until the first and save yourself some money.

I am not sure, but it is worth looking into if you are in the market to purchase soon. I saved a good amount, so I am okay with waiting a few days (even though I really wanted to get out there this weekend and ride). Hopefully, others will benefit from this information and save some money as well

Read today the big three will have extra big price cuts for March. Seems to be a glut of inventory.

If you know what the big 3 are, could you list them? Thanks.

Sorry, was on a tablet (sucks for typing) and thought it would be obvious to anyone spending any time here.

The "Big Three" are Trek, Specialized, and Giant. See link below.

Seems Cannondale is joining the fray now as well with 20% cuts at retail level.

EXCELLENT time to be bike shopping. BTW, I don't know if this will apply to prices outside the US.

Any idea whether the DS series might be included in the sale?

I don't know, but would seem logical that they might.

In a way, I kinda wish I had asked about other models, and maybe gotten an upgrade from the 7.2 for the same money I would have spent on the 7.2. It didn't occur to me at the time. I done research and determined that the 7.2 was the bike I wanted at the price point I needed to come in at. But maybe I should have tried for the better one.

Looks like the 8.2DS and 8.3DS are covered by the sale. Unfortunately, the 8.4DS that I like is not.

Do you know the sale price on the 8.2 DS?

I'd figure about $50 off list.

There will always be something better with just about everything these days. I felt the same after picking up the 7.4. In fact I went to the LBS this afternoon and was drooling at just about every bike! 8-)) Talking to the store associate about bikes and he said I bet your next progression is a road bike. I said yep....ha ha...so I looked at a couple. However, I really love my 7.4 and I cannot justify a road bike. The more I think about it, the more I like the versatility of the hybrid. Face it...I won't be that lean mean century rider or cross country trekker

i could never understand the push for selling road bikes. where i live in the now heavily populated suburbs, it is only stop and go traffic. one does not get to the high speeds that road bikes can afford. a hybrid gives a much better view of the surroundings, which is vital for safety.

My Trek dealer said it would be on selected models. Unfortunately not the mode I'm looking at.

It's what my local Trek dealer told me. He also gave me some other, unreliable, information, so you may want to double-check yourself.

The "wow" factor and selling accessories, clothing, etc.
