Do you have a bell on your road bike?
I think I need a bell. Much of my riding is urban 
and I am getting tired of the "on your left" routine. It's hard to shout it out without sounding rude. Is a bell the answer? Anyone here willing to admit they have a bell?

not on my main bike but on my town bike. it's a ss and also has a mirror but i'll be taking that off soon because it is just too dangerous for me.
as for the bell, i put it on because i thought it would be handy with more people around but i have never used it as intended as a warning. i find when i need to warn it is when someone does something unexpectedly out of theblue and a shout is a lot quicker and instinctive.

YES !! for the SAME reasons you've stated. Rather than getting a bell that's "cool", I took the other approach by getting one that was SO silly that it's appearance invokes laughter rather than .... Besidess, people intuatively turn to a bell's ringing moreso than a hollar.

YES !! for the SAME reasons you've stated. Rather than getting a bell that's "cool", I took the other approach by getting one that was SO silly that it's appearance invokes laughter rather than .... Besidess, people intuatively turn to a bell's ringing moreso than a hollar.
I've been thinking about a cool bell but maybe a Hello Kitty bell might be better! I like your thinking on this matter.

I have a bell on my road bike... I ride on MUPs a lot, and several of them have somewhat blind corners, so I use it when entering those corners to avoid potential head-on collisions with a-holes that like to cross over into the other lane while flying around the corner. I have the WonderBell that's specific for STI brake levers, so it's not as obvious as some other bells.

I am thinking about transferring my squeeze air horn from my mountain bike to my road bike as I have been riding mostly as a commuter in the local MUP. Same trail as Jersh (two posts above)
It has a very nice "Ahh Haaaa' sound. I am sure it will drive the local wanna-be-Lances on the trail crazy... Ha... ha...ha

I just bought a $3.98 Bell bell... (Hey, I just realized, that's the brand, and the item) From Target for my son's bike for fun. But am realizing it's a pretty handy little device. He rings his bell when he wants me to stop for a drink.

I've a loud voice too but who wants to be yellin' all the time sounding like a peckerhead while making one's way through crowed spots, it gets tiresome.

Not on the single road bike but I do have one on the Tandem for the Stoker to ring so people get out of the way. I find it easier than using voice... they instantly know to move and usually do so quickly.
