Your worst cycling decision in 2020 so far...

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I was looking for an inexpensive fat bike to ride on some sandy forest roads. I waited too long (snoozed and loosed). On the good side I found a used Lynsky road bike before all this crap happened.

That's easy: NOT riding when I could have been.

I do that too...in my old fridge, I could stand the bottle upright....but I got a new one last year and the frezer is on the bottom and I have to lay the bottles on their side....and the lids get frozen on.

I just run a little warm water over the lid, it thaws it enough to open and then top up.

Ya gotta use those insulated bottles. Those things really work...if I fill half full, freeze and then top off with cold tap water, it will stay cold for a couple of hours in 90+ degrees.

As for me? Worst decision was buying a long sleeve jersey that was final sale. I didn't trust the sizing chart and ended up with a jersey that was too big. A quick trip to the tailor fixed my gaff, but wrecked any savings I might have enjoyed.
Only really works if you use Polar or camelbak insulated water bottles.

well of course.
But it's still an extra hassle, and: the ice all on one side instead of the bottom. Not a big deal, but: it is better when you can stand them up.

Thats on my amazon list. I have the cheapest bottle you can find currently. I wasn’t bringing water with my most rides until about a couple of months ago, when the heat really picked up.

I always have 2 water bottles half filled with frozen water waiting in the freezer to be used. When I head out I simply fill with ice cubes and then cold refrigerated water. If it is HOT and HUMID like tonight's Midnight Madness 100 Miler will be, I will fill one bottle with Heineken 0.0 and ice.

OOPS, worst decision this year was >>>

9 weeks ago this morning at 1:25AM on a Midnight Madness 100 Miler at mile 33 riding 20.1mph I was hit by a 150lb wild hog. Resulting crash caused a cracked left scapula, 2 cracked ribs, a punctured lung and left shoulder joint injury. Only injury to bike was a slightly tweaked brifter. Will be 70 on 7/10 so recovery is slow but steady. A couple of weeks ago I was able to ride 60 miles on a Tuesday and then 115 miles on the following Friday.

I need to start doing that! Whenever I remember to put the bottles in the freezer it's too late!

Crazy story about your midnight madness rides too! Wow! Glad to hear you're on the road to recovery.

Hanging on to a pile of basket case 'project' bikes that I'll work on at some point.

Not dropping off more stuff at my local bike rescue before the quarantine hit.

Cycling makes me too happy to consider anything related with it a "bad decision".

I have my custom bike sitting in Niagara Falls, New York and as a Canadian I am not allowed to cross the border and pick it up. It maybe a long time before I am allowed to cross the border so I don't think I will be riding that bike this year, but maybe next.

exactly what happened to me for $275!

I fitted myself on my old bike and never was more comfortable and could push more power than on my new $275 fit

I went for a two hour bike ride with an average heart rate of 140 after having a Zio single-lead EKG recorder stuck to my chest in an attempt to reproduce two previous 1.5 hour rides hitting the same fast endurance pace which produced left side and an arrythmia where my heart rate was 180-200 with a 110-140 pulse. After the full workup including a stress test my cardiologist wasn't worried as long as my symptoms continued to improve, but I'd be more comfortable knowing she still had the same opinion given first hand evidence of that.

I hadn't recovered enough for that from mild COVID-19, was beat tired after just 10 minutes the next weekend, and it took at least two weeks to get back to where I was.

I was a bit concerned after my heart did this with left side chest pain, while my pulse was about 140 riding and definitely 110 at the end:

Not adequately paying attention while riding between concrete abutments so I didn’t notice that the two I was crossing between had a cable stretched there. Surprise!

Ouch.
