That looks almost identical to the cheap "retro" bells on eBay for $2, except the eBay bell tops are aluminum so they don't sound great.

Okay, so you’re saying I could but I shouldn’t?

The works actually match the Crane bell offerings.

I was just commenting. If you like the sound of a brass crane bell, the aluminum eBay ones will be a disappointment. They go ding ding like a bell should, but it's just not the sound of a crane. If you'd settle for any bell top that would fit, you could get one for a couple of bucks from China, but it would also come with shiny new hardware.

I'm looking for two 110mm BCD chainrings with pins and ramps. I don't care much what sizes they are. Maybe 40 and 50 would be ideal, but whatever. I found a nice crankset with 165mm arms, and it has 74mm BCD fittings for the small chainring.

I have lots of cranksets available for trade. Some have Biopace rings.

ISO: Barrel adjusters

I have a set of Gran Compe Brakes which are missing the adjusters.

Essentially the same as Superbe or Record where the bottom of the threaded adjustment wheel is concaved to match the dish at the top of the caliper.

Doesn't have to be Gran Compe specifically. Could be the other two mentioned just the same, as they’d work just as well.

Securing a pair of these barrel adjusters would just about complete my essential needs list for the Eisentraut build. So if you have a couple which are not in use, I would love to buy them or work out a trade if possible.

Thanks!

I have some very nice BL400 brake levers and a pair of 1055 8 speed downtube shifters that appear to be never used. No bosses for the shifters except flatties. PM me if interested, don't think I'm looking for any trade items right now.

Pardon my intrusion, but aren't 1055 7-speed? Pretty sure that's what I have on my 7-speed rando bike.

I don't believe there's such a thing as Tiagra or Sora brake levers, unless you mean flat bar levers. Both names were introduced during the STI era. If you're looking for something equivalent that would probably be RSX or Exage. If you're looking for something contemporary that would probably be non-series BL-R400.

Thanks for the reply. Some e-tail sites list the BL-R400 as Sora/Tiagra. I guess they are just comparing to that level. I have ordered a set of those levers from Jensenusa.com. They had the best price at $32.95. I had a couple of small things that I ordered, which qualified the order for free shipping over $50.

Good question. My remembrance is that 1055 was the number applied to 7 and 8 speed 105 doubles, whether downtube or STI shifted. 1056 applied to same series triples.

I think. There weren't a lot of 8 speed 1055 DT shifters made, they were kind of interim until the STI's showed up.

Ah, interesting. I just figured 1055=7-speed, 1056=8-speed. You might be right, and I certainly don't want to spoil your deal.

EDIT: no longer in search of 😁

In need of a 70’s to 80’s 5 speed French RD (Simplex, Huret..) compatible with a Simplex dropout. Short cage preferred, but not required.

This rd would be going on a frame which is being built for the Clunker Challenge. So it does not have to be pretty, nor should it be very valuable.

I have some items which may interest a trade. I’m also willing to buy outright. Thanks for looking.

Looks like that hanger may have been reworked, is it still French thread? You may not need French RD.

Duh! I should have realized that myself Van. Thanks. It didn’t dawn on me that this frame had a SunTour RD before I parted it out. And I’ve just confirmed that the drop out has been tapped. Looks like Japanese RD for the win!

If that had NOT been "reworked" it would have been NO-thread, not FR thread : Simplex DOs of that era used an unthreaded hanger hole with a low-profile backer-bolt on the inboard side securing the RD

I've got a Zefal HP pump, 49cm long uncompressed. I'd like something longer, like 53cm or so. Straight trade would be nice, or if you really need it you can have it.

Interesting! Thank you. And I understand that the hole would have originally had a 9 mm bore. So being that it’s been “reworked” to accept a 10 mm threaded bolt, a direct mount Simplex RD wouldn’t work, correct? Or is it possible that it could?

My understanding is that the notched and threaded Simplex dropout will still accept the standard Simplex direct mount fixing bolt.

ISO Peugeot UO-8 bb spindle

Tearing apart a new to me bike and found the bb spindle to be pitted to the point where it’s going to need to be replaced sooner than later. Might as well do it now.

Does anyone have one laying around?

Hi Estate. Are you talking about a cottered crank? If so, I think I have one that I would send you. I’d be able to find it on Saturday.
