How many fist fights have you gotten into on the trails?

In the past 7 years of biking, I've gotten into 5, and almost came to blows with someone last night. I will say, I've gotten pretty good at fighting in clipless bike shoes. My first fist fight in bike shoes I almost lost cuz it's hard to get your footing and get some decent power in your punches.

Anyways, I've gotten into fights with joggers, mountain bikers, and a roller blader. Joggers are the worst and more easy to fly off the handle. I've only gotten into 1 fight with a fellow road biker - he got super upset that I passed him and his ego was so hurt he had to fly right by me and clip my bike when he passed. Lo and behold he would be laid out on the trail afterwards, lol.

So how many fights have you gotten in and with who?

I'd say you need to take an anger management class.

Can't wait to see where this thread goes though...

I usually save my fist fights for the parking lot of the natural foods grocer.

I'm not sure you can consider run-ins with the elderly and little kids fights...So I would have to go with 0.
I pick my battles carefully.

This has to be a troll.

Let me guess, you're flying along a multi use trail at 20+ MPH and people are getting angry with you? Assuming any of this is true?

I have only had one (physical) issue with anyone of significance, and that was on the road. The guy turned out to be a local crazy and no charges were filed either way.

I think the OP needs to grow up. Either from the fighting (which I doubt) or the trolling (more likely what's going on) Either way we'd all benefit from a little maturity on your part.

A lady yelled at me once and made me feel bad, does that count? I passed her on the left with plenty of room but didn't say "on your left" because she had headphones on and those types normally don't hear anything. So she told me off.

Turns out I could have punched her. Who knew?

I'd say you're just looking for a fight. In all my years of riding, I've only had one altercation. A man in his 30's on a cruiser and his son(?) on a BMX were ahead of me, wandering all over the path. I saw that the man had headphones on, so I slowed way down, yelled "behind you". The young boy turned and saw me, but the man didn't. I yelled louder, but no response, so I managed to pass by him slowly, and his face looked startled and angry. I just tapped my ear, and went on. Well, he was like you, looking for a fight, so he came racing up beside me, cuts me off, then continues on ahead pedals flying, showing his fatherly skills to his son. I just stopped, let them go on ahead.

That's it. That's about all you have to do. Anything else, it's you.

Do you especially irritate people? Do you slow down and fart in their general direction or what?

What a stupid thread.

only when I have brand new cleats, so I know I've got the traction to really let loose with the haymakers. I always make sure to have one leaky bottle that I'm ready to be rid of so I can fire it off as a warning shot, and if at all possible, I'll extend my minipump and jab it through his spokes before he stops, hoping to break a few. I also keep a few links of my spare chain hanging out of the saddle bag for quick "pull and use" access if things really get serious, and I need to choke him out...

I'm sure the mods know unless he was smart enough to use a proxy. Which, considering we're talking about someone making troll posts on a bike forum... is a definite no.

none because I generally IGNORE people. I could be going 10mph, someone will still get upset. so I try to minimize my time on the MUPs now.
