Ever replaced the LED element on a Zefal or similar light?

I run a couple of Zefal LED lights I'm really happy with. Anyone ever successfully replaced the element? I have an aversion to tossing perfectly good hardware because of one piece if it can be replaced. I don't mind wielding a soldering iron.

If you have where did you get the element?

Thanks.

Chances are that the offending component is surface mount and waving a soldering iron at it will do more harm than good.

The emitter is usually soldered to a heat spreader which is mounted mechanically and connected electrically by wires. Pre-mounted emitters are easily available from component suppliers who cater to hobbyists, "makers", etc. Just get one similar in size and forward voltage and you'll only need to resolder the wires.

the power regulating circuit has probably died... the LED itself will usually outlast ten owners, or more.

get a new light.

check for bad connections first, then get a new light...

By LED standards for rechargeable lites the Zefals are cheap (inexpensive), and most are multiple LEDs. If so with the OP lite, and all the LEDs are off
then agree with Maddog that the controller chip or the battery is toasty, not the LEDs, which are the most robust component.
You might recover the battery, but best to discard and get another lite unit, unless in warranty.
