Seatpost for Trek 700 Multitrack

I need a seatpost for a Trek 700 Multitrack, early 1990's. Any idea what size? Very difficult to measure with my digital caliper. Sheldon Brown doesn't list that model.

What I have tried: 27.2mm that I had around, way too big.
25.4mm, too loose, couldn't tighten the clamp enough. Returned it for a..
26.4mm and too large. Uh!

It appears that a 25.8mm diameter seatpost is in the middle, but I am getting tired of the trial and error.

Thanks.

On the Vintage Trek site, they have a number of catalogs and technical manuals available for download.

For a 700 Multitrack, the 1991 and 1992 technical manuals both show a 26.2 mm seatpost diameter. The 1993 technical manual shows 26.8 mm.

Thanks! The 1992 was just a guess; the bike was given to me to fix up and donate.

The 26.4 didn't fit (too large) so I guess that 26.2mm is correct. I will look for one. Thanks again.

You might check local bike shops to see if one has sizing rods, which will answer the question definitively.
