Rancho, you have the two best colors ever offered for the PARAMOUNT!!!
As for "American Steel", as I recall, they were also one of the openers at the Summer Jam at Charlotte Motor Speedway in August 1974. We rocked and received a good reception but American Steel's lead singer saw the huge crowd and was almost paralyzed with stage fright and literally had to be pushed out there. Fortunately, their keyboard player took charge and they were solid for the last 22 minutes of their gig. Rockin' would not describe their chaotic first three songs on the massive stage, being outta tune and the feedback issues caused by the frightened lead singer's stage location.

Great Concert memory Vintage Schwinn! I have a few concert recollections. but the THC at the time has clouded some of the details. I would agree on the colors due to the ease of matching them compared to the Flamboyant colors Schwinn used back then.
tkamd73 you might have OCD! Painting the pump never occurred to me as finding the yellow one on there was hard enough. Will put it on my to do list when I clear coat a 86 Schwinn Super Sport I am finishing up.

I really like your Paramounts, and the half-step-plus-granny gearing is a personal favorite.
I was going to post my mountain bike, which is part of the Paramount lineage, but it has Japanese Tange steel, just as your Paramount road bikes have British steel.
I suppose we have to look to the Varsinentals (and maybe SuperSports and Superiors???) for American steel in a Schwinn road bike.

Merz seems to have sold them with most of his, 3 of the 4 above have them and a 5 frame I have also has one.
And I would save the yellow one as is, find a plainer more common silver, black or white one to paint, you should be able to find one minus head and maybe not working good for cheap then use the head and maybe sleeve off the yellow one.

So Bornstein worked at Micheals of Ames Iowa, racing hotbed where, Hampsten, Howard, Meeker and many others passed through on their way to their racing careers.
Bornstein came to PDX to work at Strawberry with Andy for awhile and built this, when he went back to Iowa Meeker supposedly rode this for his training bike for the Olympics, the guy I got it from got it from Meeker.
It has track forks that are stout and is very nice, Andy saw it and kinda went nuts when he saw it and agreed to build my new Strawberry but eventually changed his mind.
