Knowing that the same thread will be endlessly re-re-re-posted yet again once more is a form of Presque Vu into the unalterable causality of future events where the Fast, the Expensive Kit, the Disc Brake and the Diamond Frame re-re-post into a drone of repetition that like the chants of the Mahayana and Vajrayana reveal the essential emptiness and illusion of the sub-forum.

I always wave, and I ride on a multitude of bikes and a in multitude of costumes.

It's the same guys that don't wave time and again. It's the guys on steel racing bikes that are 20-40 years old. the riders are 50-70.

They might wave sometimes when I am on hybrid and helmetless. they will never wave when I am on a carbon race bike.

they are often the ones claiming speed doesn't matter because it's about enjoying the ride. from my observation these guys don't enjoy anything in life, not even a bike ride!

I don't know about the rest of you, but my goal is to go s-l-o-w-e-r every year! Who in their right mind would strive to better themselves or benefit from improved fitness? That's just crazy talk.

Well...I average 35 MPH and I wave. Without all that waving, I'd be up over 40 MPH, easy!

Hmmm . . . that's a good question. I'll have my personal sommelier look into the matter and report back to the august assemblage in this thread.

I believe so. It is (or at least was) an E & J Gallo product.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flavored_fortified_wine

A year after college I remember getting so sick after drinking a bunch of grape MD 20/20 that I puked in the trashcan in my bedroom and got some on the wall at the same time.

You are probably right. I should stop spending money on fast bikes...at my age it is a bit pointless.

Instead I should get a blazing fast computer and kick everyone’s butt.

To incite. The OP has a couple of basic threads that he recycles every so often to get a rise out of people and garner attention. The fail in his M.O. is that, as you can see from the replies, many/most of us are wise to his antics and, therefore, have fun with the threads.

Well I lied, I don't always wave. Jan-Feb are off months. Got tired of people (in cars) turning around and coming back asking if I was okay, and asking why I am riding in sub freezing temps.
I lie then too and say "just enjoying my ride". lol It's not always about speed, err I mean temperature.

We all lie about something. When I met my future wife I too “exaggerated” a bit...

...I told her that I was the heir to the Bacardi fortune.

You would think on a bicycle forum you would get some questions on speed and distance. Who Knew!

I just don't see the appeal in this trendy self-competitiveness. Step counters, mileage, calories, just ugh.

When I was a kid, I just danced, played, ran, cycled.. and had fun.
Same as a teen.
Same in my 20s.

I am now in my 40s and haven't lost the plot yet. I still do all the things I do for the sheer heck of it. I have a six-pack, sure, but only as a by-product of living life with no boundaries - none set, none broken.

You wanna dress up like an Olympian and beat yourself half to death then great for you. But I have more in common with the cat walking along the fence than the horizontally-spined roadie flying down the by-pass.

I don't wave. And you look far to occupied to be able to wave back anyway.

I'm praying that post #97 was in the spirit of the debacle that is the typical Rydabent thread. But if it was made in earnest (as it were) it would easily be the worst thing I've ever seen on this site. The phrase "pure dreck" comes to mind.

But if the tongue is firmly in the cheek, well played.

I do 18mph average on my centuries. I try to wave unless I'm heaving. We have more rolling hills out east

I love increasing my speed, as long as distance isn't compromised. Such an awesome feeling to travel a distance under your own power.

To know what's it takes to qualify for fast
First need to know
What's slow
Above that is "fast"

Then we can have 2 new forum topics
Fast & Slow

Then we'd need. "Faster "
If faster is needed " Slower " will be too, gotta be PC

Forgot my point
Back to "50 +"
