This is the story of one of my family, to be able to travel by pedal or wind.To be self reliant , whether mending your sails, truing your wheels, replacing a stopcock or bent derailleur. I spit on the internal combustion engine. Of course there's always room for steam!! Many thanks to all of you...Now to the idiot bit! When I got the Lotus it came with a nice Campagnolo front wheel that I'm having a terrible time with!@! Please help before I bugger it up

ha! one of the defining guitar riffs of the 80's. unforgettable

btw, keep the BL. an understated panache and better than the campy. those BL's just don't get enough love, imo

@SurferRosa - Ah, if it is fantasy, then I am finally on the same page. Not only on the same page but agree.

I do not have to have an exotic this or that to ride, these days. One bike that did nothing to blow my kilt up was this old Raleigh Tourist step through. Bought it for $30.00 CND, serviced it a wee bit (pumped up the tires) and rode it around for a couple of days just for you know what and giggles. What I did not realize, until it was too late, is that I really liked the ride quality. I can remember thinking freight train. Slow out of the gate but once rolling it was just great and seemed to pull itself along. Wish I had not sold it and, for what it is worth, now past my Biblical expiry date, the step through design holds even more appeal...

this is just what I am talking about. Yesterday after a long day landscaping I rode my Motobecane Super Mirage that I've converted to a SS and put some nice Carbon wheels on roughly seven miles from West Oakland to Albany today after a similar days work I took the "Brittany "the same route.
Now if I'd been fresh and my normal hooligan self it would have been all about the Mirage. But I wasn't, I was knackered and on auto pilot so I'm keeping "Brittany "I've got a new work horse. One that I can lock up at the worksite and not worry all day about it being knicked. Did I just curse myself!!

Scored a nice rim now let's see if I can make it all work. Off to get cable

Why would you quote me without clearing up whether the BL derailleur has a bent cage? I don't care whether you use the Campy one or not. I wouldn't, but that's just me.

As-is, without deep-diving, it would appear the chain needs correct shortening.

Farewell Free Spirit

Was made an offer I couldn't refuse , basically sold itself and now I have an iBoc Mongoose to rebuild and a Schwinn frame that looks good for a Gravel ride.
I did learn not to assume that everybody's idea of crap is the same
I bet that FreeSpirit is going strong 25 years from now
