Cool to see AXS tech trickle down to a more reasonable price point. For me, this places AXS squarely into the "I can do enough mental gymnastics to justify this to myself" category

However, price aside, I can't stomach the added weight. I've got an X01 Eagle mechanical group right now, and this would add 200+ grams in weight. My trail bike doesn't need to get any porkier than it already is!

Have you subtracted the weight of the shifter cable and cable guide?

I just upgraded from NX11 to GX 12 3 weeks ago. Wish this news broke LAST month. I have AXS on my “fast” gravel bike and it’s awesome!

Yeah, even with cable and housing, mechanical X01 is still nearly 1/2 pound lighter according to SRAM's published weights.

If it's any consolation, you probably can't actually get your hands on GX AXS right now anyway, so you can wear out that new GX group then upgrade!

Update: I robbed the GX Eagle derailleur to use on a 12 speed Rival 1 gravel build, so I just installed the new GX AXS kit onto my mountain bike. So far, so good.

Very nice !

I did the mental gymnastics on the added cost of AXS for my new bike build -- FWIW , i went with X01 mechaniocal and a Fox transfer Dropper versus the X01 or XX1 AXS and Reverb post.

It was a little about the money, but after discussing the build with riding buddies, -- to a man all of them agreed that since i rarely plug in my Garmin watch and its batteries die mid ride before anything can be effectively recorded for Strava, i personally need to stick with a mechanically operated system. I had been too used to Di2 on he road where you only have to charge the batteries every 3 months

The same riding buddies have seen me floundering around on numerous occasions with 12 psi air in the back tire because i forget to cjheck my pressure at the trail head --- KISS and its good to have honest friends !

Nearly all of the weight loss in SRAM's upper groups is the X-dome cassette and the carbon crank arms. Nothing to do with shifting.

NX might be heavier than "published" due to sometimes OEM having a solid spindle Power Spline bottom bracket
