Garmin HRT Too low numbers

As from another post. I found out my straps are working fine actually. It's the actual HRT device that is not working right.
The HRT numbers are showing up on my Garmin devices. My cycling ones and my VIvofit. However the HRT numbers are way too low.
when i go to high intensity, i should be getting HRT in 190's
right now numbers don't go above 140. often way too low
I did play around with my Garmin 520 etc. such as connect and disconnect the readings etc. Still get same numbers.
It does show up on the device but still numbers are way off.
what can I do to get the device to work properly?
I am talking more on the device Garmin that connects directly to the HRT strap. with the snaps/buttons.

Suggestions please

Maybe you got old and your HR isn't what you think it should be. <grin>

I have heard a few others that claim when they put their garmin pod on other manufacturers straps that they got odd reading. Though typically I remember them being that they were reading much higher HR than what their actual was. I don't remember what brand strap was a problem for them though.

If this is a Garmin HR pod on a Garmin strap, then call Garmin. They've always gotten me straightened out. But call, don't email.

It seems the battery is fine. and strap is fine. I have put the Garmin sensor onto another strap and it was still working. I am just getting to low of numbers for HRT. As i did a manual reading. (finger to neck pulse) and Garmin is way off.
I should be able to get zone 5 HRT over 190. Instead it doesnt go higher then 130 , when doing something intense.

I would like try to different brand of Sensor. However I really like using my old Garmin forerunner 405 which is old school. I was wondering if if Polar Sensor would work on an old school garmin device?

You need an ANT+ one to work with your Garmin. CooSpoo on Amazon makes an economical one that's worked with my Garmin watch.
