Here is my 2010 Giant Rapid 1 flat bar road bike.

Hey guys this is my 2010 Giant Rapid 1 flat bar road bike. Awesome bike that I totally recommend to anyone looking for a light fast road bike. I take this bike on long treks all over the place. Paid $1150. CDN. Well worth it. I changed the pedals and the bar ends but other than that it is stock.

That's a nicely spec'd out and setup bike, I understand your enthusiasm for it. Thanks for showing.

Nice machine! Those Shimano long reach brakes are unusual (and hellishly expensive if bought separately) and indicate you can fit larger tires in there! I'm jealous! 25c is the most I can fit on my road bikes and I'd like 28's.

Thanks for the response. I'm happy with it. Now I'm wondering if I should go Ergo grips???

I'm quite happy with the GP3's, I didn't WANT the big staghorns of the GP5's. I have fairly large hands (a glove maker measured them once and told me I had XL hands but my fingers were "L" long per his sizing standards... sadly, his wonderful handmade motorcycle gloves were meant for long fingers not short).

note the ergon grips, any given version like GP-3, there's 3-4 variants, they come in 'small' or 'large' (grip outside diameter) and 'short' or 'normal' (short are for twist-shift systems). so mine are the large-normal version of the GP-3.

i did. I went with the Ergo GS2 in White then bought the GS2 Carbon and removed the carbon bars to put to on the White GS2. Unfortunately Ergo doesn't sell the GS2 Carbon in White.

Here's a picture of it on my Rapid Composite.

Isn't that why 650B exists. So we can fit huge fat tires on vintage race bikes?

fwiw, I think I could fit a 32 on my vintage 1975 reynolds 531 road bike. certainly, a 28 fits fine. with the sidepull vintage campy brakes, you darn near have to let the air out of your tire to get a fat tire past them, even when you flip the release lever

Good on you.

I have the lower end 2011 ladybike version (Dash 3), and I love it so much. It's a neat looking bike, and nice n zippy (but practical too for everyday transportation). I can attest that this line of bikes is superb. My father likes it too.

I would guess that's a personal choice. Personally, rather than put out for a new set of wheels and long reach brakes and still have to deal with a very limited tire and tube selection- I'd just leave things alone and use the same money for a new hybrid that would have none of those issues.
