Using a Center Stand on my Bridgestone Farm Bike

I have been using my old Bridgestone MB-2 as my transportation around our hillside farm. I put a Wald basket on the front and carry around sprinklers, channel locks, etc. I recently installed the Pletscher center "Twin" kickstand on the bike. It works great, but if the fork starts to turn left or right, disaster ensues! I remember seeing on old bikes a down tube mounted "Chock" that you can flip down to keep the front wheel stabilized straight ahead. I have not had any luck finding such a device. Any help would be appreciated!

I talked to Wald, and they did a successful Google search finding three manufacturers: Velo Orange, Saris, and Ventura!

A Flick stand will not work on your MB-2 due to the oversize tubing and the distance between the down tube and the tire.

I tried the Velo Orange wheel stabilizer on another bike with a front basket and center stand and it did not work. The wheel still flopped when the basket was loaded. The spring was too weak. I plan to put my last Flick Stand on that bike.

Just use an old toe strap or a Velcro strap to hold the front tire to your down tube. Or get a longish rubber band and loop it around the valve stem, over the frame tube and again around the valve stem.

I am hoping for something that I can flip down or works full time. I need it to be faster than a applying a strap each time if at all possible. I have found another supplier: Hebie steering stabilizer 695. I have sent a message inquiring about its effectiveness. It has an adjustable spring.

Steering Stabilizer

I ordered a Hebie 695 Steering Stabiliser. I believe it is made in Germany and heavier duty that a couple others on the market. I will let you know how it turns out.

Hebie and some others also have some central kickstands which are very stable.
