Pinarello Dogma Mountain bike
I recently purchased a 1990's? Pinarello Dogma Mountain bike. I can not seem to find anything about this bike. The modern Dogma road bike dominates all the listings. I can't post pics yet but will soon. It rides super smooth and is a good fit for me so I am happy with the purchase. In trying to find info on the bike I am hard pressed to find any Pinarello less than $1000
wondering if anyone has an idea about this bike. A little worried that i am riding a bike that is a target for bike thieves.

Vintage-Italian-Pinarello-Antelao-20-Shimano-Deore-XT-Mountain-Bike - on Ebay - I can't post URL's yet
This was the closet comparable I could come up with. The blown out paint on the back of the frame is the same way on mine, not great paint for a fancy bike. Mine is also Deore XT

You sure it's not a Pinarello Antelao?
My gut says "Dogma" isn't a 1990's mountain bike. Maybe you bought a reasonably reconditioned Antelao with modern stickers?
It'll be interesting to see what the more knowledgeable people on here think.
...& of course pics. A link from Flickr that can be edited to be a proper (dot com) url would be helpful until you get 10 posts.

I like your theory base2, the stickers seemed like an afterthought. The paint being so bad (like the one on ebay) the stickers seemed less odd. I am going to go check for a serial number (not that I have seen a Pinarello serial number database anywhere) from the best that I can make out the number on the bottom bracket is 07124824. Another mystery (not to my advantage) is the Antelao is a "butted" frame and so is the "Vintage-Pinarello-Cristallo-44cm-Shimano-Deore-LX-Columbus-Engraved-RARE-MTB" (also on ebay) Mine is not a butted frame. Nothing engraved anywhere on my frame. Patiently waiting to get out of forum purgatory and I will share more info and pics.

Hope to see some pics soon since I have not seen a Pinnerallo from the 80's or 90's that didn't have some engraving or distinct details. I'm interested on this one since I'm a big fan of nicer quirky MTBS from the late 80's and early 90's.

You can upload photographs. While they won't attach to posts, they will be deposited in gallery album under your usie name, where members can view them.
Why do you think the frame isn't butted? Is there a tubing decal or are you basing it on the seat post diameter? If it's the latter, those Columbus OR tubesets used double butted seat tubes, unlike there road tubsets, so they will use smaller diameter seat posts than expected. The same is true of most ATB tubesets.
The only Dogma ATB that I've seen are a series of modern bicycles that were introduced circa 2014.

Sounds about right, good eyes on the headset, or maybe my eyes just weren't open. Question is repainted what frame set? "The best that I can make out the number on the bottom bracket is 07124824" Are there other pics I can provide that will help give a clue?

Agreed . . . seems like a lot of work for what? Vanity? I bought it on craigs or offerup from a guy with a fancy car in a fancy neighborhood, but did not even pay Specialized money for it! Why make a fake Pinarello if not for the value? To make it More likely to get stolen?

I was going to say something made in Japan or Japanese tubing. There you go! Someone wanted to have fun maybe? Something like our infamous Breaking Away Masi bike?

Maybe they wanted a magnesium framed bike (2003-2009 Dogmas)

I agree it was ounce a late 80's Specialized made by Giant the seat cluster drop outs and Geometry and nice tig welding all seem to match. If you can get the serial off the BB it should be possible to ID the exact maker and year. Really nice vintage hard frame shame they didn't leave the original pain which was exceptional on all the originals I have seen.
