I have a 5 year old Peformance Mag Trainer. HATE it with a passion.

Need a trainer that doesn't suck so hard. Don't want to spend $700 on emotion rollers, not because I don't think I'll like them, more because I only train indoors when I'm forced to. Think five days each winter.

Do you guys think I'll like the fluid trainer a little more? I've read good reviews on them.

I have one and love it. Works well and it doesn't sound like a plane is taking off in my house.

Switched from a Cycleops Mag to a KK. Yes, it's that much better. Before, I could only muster ~1.5 hours on trainer; on fluid, I've done 4 hours. I now dislike the trainer vs. hating it =P

I have a Cyclops Fluid 2, mainly because it was cheaper than the Kurt Kinetic at the time. It's not the same as riding outside, not that I expected it to be.

Looking back, I would have corrected my mistake in getting a trainer and would have bought a used mtn. bike or just pony up and get decent rollers (if I was committed to riding indoors).

I have no words to tell you what a piece of crap that Performance Mag trainer is. I won't even sell it on eBay.

I have the CO Jet Fluid Pro, but prefered my buddy's KK Rock & Roll Fluid.

Both are still great units, but can be pricey.

I hate riding indoors, but with the weather in the Maryland area this year I didn't have much of a choice. I purchased a Cyclops Magneto. I have about 10 hours or more on it. Much better than a standard mag trainer. The resistance varies with your cadence, much like a fluid trainer. It is also much, much quieter than my standard mag trainer. Paid $216 at the LBS.

I have the fluid 2 (first gen, with knob instead of yellow lever). I hate it and it returns the favor with torture.

I haven't had the leak issues as some have reported on the earlier models, and I have roughly 200-250 hours on it (over the course of 5 years). It takes time to warm up, where it will then give a very good resistance. It's pretty quiet, but my rollers are acutally a little quieter.

I prefer the rollers indoors, but when I want to hit targets the fluid 2 is easier to get there and stay there.

Fluid is definitely better. Anyone who can afford a decent bike shouldn't settle for mag.

i have one. i rode it back to back with a KK at the beginning of the winter and could not discern a difference between the two, so i went with the less expensive Cycleops. its way better and less noisy then the cheap mag trainer i used to have, i think you'll like it...

further, if you're not hell bent on pushing yourself too hard, its really not a bad way to watch movies. its pretty quiet, and the time slips by pretty quickly when you're into a good flick...

I would get the Kurt Kinetic Fluid/Road trainer.

I way able to ride back to back with Cycle Ops and think Kurt Kinetic offers less drag at low speed so you get a better range of resistance with it.

I have had it for a month or so and its not so bad to ride.

I have used my cycle-op fluid for the past 2 winters. Works fine. However, if you get the KK you can measure power with a $50 KK computer.

You could have ordered a Performance adjustable fluid trainer and a set of Performance rollers for what you paid for the Cycleops. At the second resistance setting the Performance fluid has the same resistance curve as the Cycleops. But in your case, Pcad, there would not be as much bling.

Save the box because I think you will be sending it back cuz that is the trainer I have used for the past 12 year. I am on my 2nd one and it gives a killer workout. Kurt Kinetic's comparable version feels same but people swear it is better, but they are based on same design (ie. fluid). So now that you know I endorse the Cyclops Fluid, I am sure you will hate it. LOL. I may be buying a Scott too.
