Rode most of the way no-handed. Dunno why. Just 'cause, I guess.

Warm ride this morning and I had an early dentist appt so I tried not to get too sweaty. The appt went well, I guess all the flossing is really doing the trick, and then I rode on to the office taking a short detour with a steep climb.
I will probably melt on the ride home, it's a good thing I mounted a bottle cage and bottle.

wow those South West temperatures are bad news. hearing them makes me appreciate my humid 91 deg weather. Humidity is not your friend however. morning ride 72 deg and humid. sunrise is getting noticeably later every day now. stars were shining and moon was setting. nice. commute home is gonna be a whole nuther story.

Mid 70's and 90%+ humidity before 6:00 AM today. I was pretty well soaked by the time I got into work.

The ride home was great and hot! Instead of heading home, I turned North and rode through Oak Cliff and jumped on the Houston bridge to cut through downtown. This is a route I've only tried on weekends when there is no traffic. I rode up and down Katy Trail and headed back home. Cagers around here are pretty courteous. Today I rode my Schwinn Super LeTour SS conversion. Added an extra 7 miles to my ride today.
Ernest

PS: I did have one driver trying to squeeze me out of my lane as I gave his girlfriend in the passenger side a nice friendly smile. She Quickly turned on her boyfriend and set him straight, don't think he'll be trying that stunt anytime soon.

Steady rain, and 68 F ( 20 C), so not bad at all. There is always something pleasant about a warm rain. This area can use the rain, my rain barrel has been running on empty for several weeks. Fewer cars early on, so that was good too. The darkness is more reminiscent of the winter months.

much cooler today and not humid so the air quality was good. I thought my gearing was all set yesterday afternoon but the cold weather may have affected my cable length and I had some issues getting into all my gears. I definitely need a new chain cuz I have some definite chain hop. I got off to a late stop but arrived in record time. I will attribute it to getting up out of the saddle more. My morning STATs are perhaps my best of the season. I haven't pumped my tires for almost 2 weeks and that fact plus the cold weather this morning made my tires feel like soft donuts and I noticed considerable slow-down when coasting to sip water. the flipped rapid fires stink and either need to be replaced or I need to get a real road bike and quit fooling around with this converted hybrid.

morning STATs
13.35 miles
28 mph MAX speed
16.8 mph average speed
47 minutes saddle time

Got new disc brake pads and the rear is pretty draggy. Not sure if I can fix it or if I just have to wait until some of the material wears off. It's not slowing me down, much, but I can feel it and it's annoying.

Nice ride this morning though. Low 60s. Followed a woman, a regular commuter I see almost daily, then went into the woods for a while, came back out and caught up to the woman again.

Send some of that heat north please. I had to wear two jerseys this morning, one with long sleaves because it was only 59 Degrees F! We are getting October weather early this year.

Cool summer morning, light traffic, virtually all the lights in my favor, averaged 19.5 mph (including all legal stops) on a 6.5 mile commute through downtown Cary, NC. Ka-Chow!

I'm a fair weather rider so I broke a personal rule today -- the sun wasn't shining when I left the house. It started out with wet roads, then mist, then light rain. Overall, not bad! Bike got wetter then me.

Cool enough I used a pants clip rather than rolling them to knicker-length. This is odd for KS.

broke a spoke on the commute home yesterday. Will spin by a downtown bike shop for a replacement (and some spares) on the way home today.

This morning's ride in was warmish (70's) and lots of clouds (some with lightning). I hope it rains today - would be our first rain since some time in June.

Kinda on the cool, tip. 59F. Had to crack out the jacket & pants. Took it easy on the way in and saw maybe 5 other commuters. Been a bit nervous, since this happened on Tuesday. At least they got the guy. R.I.P. Rui Hui Lin

Had a minor wardrobe malfunction close to work. My pant leg escaped the geek strap and went straight for the chain. While this isn't normally a big deal for most folks because they can simply pedal in reverse to back the cuff out, you can't exactly do that on a fixed gear. Luckily, it was pulled free with very minor cuff damage. I didn't even see the damage until I looked closely.

Cooler and drier this morning. Took the eight mile route to work.
Saw a few other bike commuters traveling in the opposite direction.

Yesterday was another near perfect day in Michigan

57F and dry for the start, 75F and hazy coming home.

Ding for the air quality starting to suck - ozone and all makes me wheezy in the afternoon.......

drove in today, biking home though. My wife biked in Tues, took company car home, we both drove yesterday, today we both drove in, she to return company car, me w/ bike on rack, I will bike home and she will drive home w/ her bike on the rack. Really, I could have driven home today and she could have biked, but hey, I want to bike.

Commute today morning was mad fun, until a car dented my rack.
Came back home and took off my rack.
Anybody got any ideas as to where I can put my U-Lock? I locked through my seat post at a diagonal angle towards my bottle cage, but it keeps hitting my legs.

Went out to the garage, running right on time, I pulled my commute bike off the hook it hangs on, set it on the ground and the front wheel made that oh so special sound of a completely flat tire hitting the concrete.

Mmmmmmm, I was running out of time so being the clever guy I am, I hung her back up and pulled down my weekend road bike. Oh boy, I get to ride the carbon girl with the silly expensive wheels up the hill to work today.

Well, that was not to be, about two miles from home the rear derailleur commits suicide, how rude of it. Ok, I could nurse this baby for the next ten miles up hill to work or go back home and patch the tire on my commuter and start again……….I head home.

Don’t ya love it when you find the pin hole leak in a tube but can’t find the culprit that caused the leak. It just makes the ride that follows a bit different; you know, you keep expecting the tire to go flat again.

It held air and I flew out the door and set a blistering, for me, pace all the way up the hill to work and was only 30 minutes late. Yes, I had called and let my secretary know I would be late.

Hind sight………How come I did not just throw the front wheel from the carbon girl on my commuter………sheeeseh,

Rain this morning. Odd for Northern California in August.
