I wonder who wrote their copy.
THE ORIGINAL LEATHER SADDLE - Often immidated, never duplicated, this simple yet elegant design is the original leather saddle. Don’t be fooled by immatations, this is the saddle you've been looking for.

If you find them comfortable, why not?

I've got one on my commuter, which is a chipped paint 30 yo entry level bike, currently running a Sturmey rear. Probably beater, depends on your frame of reference.

I love my Brooks leather saddles. I have 3 B17s. They're great! I say that because I like how they feel and look. I've had considerable issues with other saddles and found B17s to work for me. Thats why I bought more than 1.
When you say beater, do you take care of the bike? Leave it locked up outside. Is this a bar or campus bike?
I ask because leather saddles require a certain amount of consideration. You're not going to get a lot of life out of the saddle if you don't take care of the leather. Also, if you leave your bike left about for a long period of time, Brooks saddles are nice looking and in my opinion attractive to thieves. I wouldn't leave a bike locked up for a long period of time.
I mention all that and still have B17s on my most ridden bikes. One of which is worth less collectively as a bike than the saddle or the seatbag.

I call it a beater because its fairly old, inexpensive, and the paint has seen better days. It mostly stays garage kept its just used for cruising on bike paths at he moment. I'd like a dedicated around town bike but my butt can only handle 12 miles max on my current saddles.

Why not? Think of it as an investment in yourself. If you get rid of the bike, just swap it out and keep the Brooks!

I have two Gyes saddles (GS06 I believe). Not as high quality as Brooks, but I find them comfortable, and they don't have "Brooks" on the back, so not as likely to be stolen. They were both around $50 each on sale. They still take a couple of hundred miles to break in, still have to be oiled regularly, and are a bit heavier than synthetic seats. No issues so far.

I ended up getting a C17 carved. A deal popped up on Amazon Warehouse that I couldn't resist. I paid a whole $1.13 for it after my gift cards XD. Hopefully it works out it'll get here Saturday.
