Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

ZIPP Super9 Disc Clincher (Black)

Just added a 2nd Zipp Super9 Disc to the stable as the other one now sets at my place in Sri Lanka and was feeling naked here without one..! Gorgeous wheel and i will pair it with a 2nd Zipp 858 NSW when i get recharged..

Wait, this is a "Road" forum and aren't disc wheels for TT?

Seriously, its a sweet wheel, but you have to check the wind conditions before heading out. And if its a bit windy, I'm sure you can take one of the other bikes in your stable.

It's a road cycling forum, and someone wanted to show off how much money he has.

Whip it out.

have you ever used a disc wheel in the wind?.. the rear is not a big deal at all. The front can be another story.

Oh come on... he's way past needing to show off his wallet. I love that he's obsessed with high end cycling gear and that he can afford it. I really enjoy his passion, but for me 2 bikes and 2 sets of wheels each is all I need, even if I could afford more. I have other priorities.

I've never ridden a bike with a disc wheel, but my son did race triathlons and had a disc wheel for his TT bike. There were times he opted not to use it when it was windy and I trust his judgment.

I don't think he's trying to impress us. Just showing off his toys.

The main thing is he actually rides and uses all his toys.

Unlike some guys that buy exotic cars and never drive them.

I say, sit back and enjoy the show.

it's a common misconception ... the only time I won't use a disc is very hilly course (for weight). Otherwise it's disc 100%.. for TTs and Tris. I live in an area with windmills planted in the hills... and it's been miserable windy lately.

I regularly ride to Jones Beach and the MUP is "L" shaped so there's a n/s segment and a e/w segment so you always have one segment with a headwind, tailwind and crosswind. 10-16mph is average but you can get well over 20mph at times. I ride a Trek Emonda SLR with Zipp 303s and can tell you a few times I've almost been knocked off by a gust. My 205# is not very aero but the idea of a disc wheel would make great sail.

Not that I ever plan on using one... unless the OP would like to lend me one of his

I agree, there's more important things to argue over. Like red bikes are faster than all other colors.

Incorrect

Everyone knows that's an old wives tale. Blue bikes are the fastest.

How much is the MSRP on the snow booties and the work bench, and did you get them at retail?

I know that the $1100.00 Rimowa Carryon Luggage is almost impossible to find anywhere and I mean anywhere for less then MSRP.. Was just curious about Zipp being offered at a discount..

+1, rather that trying to impress, I think that he gets at least a bit of pleasure out of some guys getting a little tweaked about his spending.
