Addiction LXXVII

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Don't take this the wrong way but everyone seemed to lose interest and left.

Short ride through a low-traffic city followed by chocolate chip brioche (Aldi, natch) French toast. Hey, I've gotta do something with all of the eggs, milk and bread that we've stockpiled in the bunker.

After work I went for a solo ride. It’s sunny and mid 60’s, a beautiful spring day. I was doing hill repeats up the closest real hill, when a fancy orange convertible came beside me. It was one of my cycling friends! I told him he should be riding his bike.

I did not recognize what car it was, so after the ride I texted him to ask. He said it’s a Mclaren 720S Spyder. I told him it’s ok, but not quite a Saturn.

Sad.
In my sphere, it's the older people who minimize, mock, deny, and refuse to be smart. Even AG has to call her mother every few days and give a sitcom-esque generation-reversed "it's for your own good young lady" talk.

My parents seem to be taking it seriously. My mother in law in VA, though? Ugh. I mean, she doesn't get out of the house much, as it is, but she's not terribly robust and my wife has been hammering on her to minimize her exposure.

...aaaaand then we find out that my MIL thought it was a good idea to keep her annual check-up appointment and that my Kool-aid drinkin' brother in law didn't see an issue so he ******g drove her to the big-ass hospital. I say again - ugh.

I have a kinetic smart trainer and wahoo Element I am trying to control my trainer through my wahoo. Should the resistance be @100% or lower? Intensity was only factory set @3 I bumped that to 5.
I want to do a 20 min ftp test, but I would like it to be as correct as I can make it.

I think that only affects resistance relative to speed. If you control it through direct wattage that won't matter. This is to move your cadence-for-wattage up and down the gearing for slope mode.

Stimulate that Japanese economy?

I'll hold off. I feel like there are going to be deals to be had in the near future, if I'm still in the market, that is.

This goes for the bike crap, too. I did order some Rapha bibs/jersey and Swiftwick socks yesterday, though (and they'll both arrive within the next 48 hours ); they were running decent sales on stuff that's not often discounted and I think others will be following suit.

It's just gas, groceries, and occasional take-out here.

There'll be deals on everything. I just bought two pairs of shorts from De Soto at full whack because one of my pairs is almost dead (six years old) and I've been using them a lot of late. Other than that... not even buying a damn Lego kit.

Not with the US$ doing right now. Something of interest overseas jumped $200 in two days because of the exchange rate. And since covid Johnson closed the U.K. economy there’s nothing I can do but watch the price change as I watch the market in free fall.
