FWIW: Companies like Pep Boys and Napa have service facilities and will install brake pads on your car, in addition to selling tools and parts for the DIY market.

Looking at Pep Boys website, they also seem to have a loaner tool program. Customers basically buy the tool from their "loaner program" and have 5 days to use it and return it, receiving a full refund. If they don't return it, they own it.
