both stages 7 and 8 look tailor made for another breakaway win. as much as i'd love to say classics style/opportunistic riders like
kwiatkowski, sagan, viviani and valverde will contest these two stages, k and valverde are too high up on gc and i don't see the peleton
letting either sagan or viviani waltz away either. maybe nibbles goes on a flyer here...or there.

Porte - Bouhanni is not over yet. Richie is down but not out, and by any Naceresque standard Bou Bou has been a choir boy so far, at least well short of a meltdown which I believe is where we set the bar.
Speaking of setting the bar, I limbo'd underneath it yesterday/today -- failed in my diligence to get back in to Eurosport and reconfigure from yesterday's sprint to today's Valverde victory. I'll be slipping back in the overall standings in a way that might make Richie look good.

for a guy that’s supposedly in the twilight of his career, that green bullet has still got it.

I know he's not yet 100%, but that really surprised me that he would allow someone to pass him in the last few meters. I think anger would've kicked in on me, and I'd have been like "oh no you don't!"

Eddie Pliers still crushing it! In both Velogames bike forums leagues, with and without the exclamation point.
I am dutifully slipping out of the top 50-100-1000 of Eurogames but relentlessly creeping in front of ooga-booga, so like is thoroughly adequate.

thank you...slcbob...for the psa...we'll see what week two brings but week one was definitely forgettable for my team(s). you and eddie are crushing it.
in other bleepy predictions...taking aru on the dynamite stage 9. he hasn't done squat this year and has generally been a disappointment after joining
uae. yet, he was the furst name that came to mind looking at the stage so i'll stick with him. frankly surprised he's still as close to the red jersey as he is at this point.
perhaps he wears it after this stage...?

and thinking that sagan bounces after stage 14 and before covadonga on 15. there are a few stages before and including stage 14 that are winnable for him.
guy is a firkin megabeast unicorn. viviani and kwski aren't far behind and they (+others) will likely rip the joint for the worlds unless there is some ridiculously circuitous
rube goldberg styled gc contention (still) involved.

and super random introducing a new intra-forum competition. guess the correct number of riders to actually finish the entire applicable gt. guessing 151 for this vuelta. currently still have 175.
2016 edition finished with 159 (jack haig dead last). last year's edition finished with 158 and alessandro de marchi from bmc was the lanterne rouge or maglia nera or whatever.
did. not. know. that and would never have guessed him. may also start playing pick the lanterne rouge for every gt in the future for extra giggles. y not?

Anybody see Ben King minutes after end stage nine? I have never seen anyone breathing that fast, he could not even talk. I can't imagine how he felt.

Whoever had the prescience to pick Ben King for their team or even just the stage prediction should have bought a lottery ticket that day.

I was concerned for him there for a bit. Even though these guys are super fit, I guess they can still over do it and suffer bad repercussions. Glad his wasn't too severe.

I'm pleased to see Uran progressing well. That last little sprint cost him 7 seconds though.

missed the viviani prediction for stage 10. oh well. stage once looks to have plenty of wiggles and giggles in the second half of the course.
looks like the usual classics guys will be placated yet again. since that peter dude can't get over that enormous second place hump,
i'll take valverde for the hat trick. thinking there may be a crash or three and just hoping everyone makes it through the stage w/o injury.
