Made a much more useful, practical and comfortable ride, at the expense of being heavier than the "floor" model as delivered. A joy to ride, by comparison.

As some have suggested, finding the right "fit" for things is a process.

The wheelset I did were: Velocity Dyad 700c 36H, DT Swiss spokes, Shimano Deore XT hubs, quality build, with Conti Tour Ride 700x1.95 tires. Not a peep through years of use on rougher urban streets and mild trails. Considered a higher spoke count, being a heavier rider, but 36H was fine given the quality of the build.
@Clyde1820 Can I ask what tyre pressure you run? I am at 80psi rear and 100psi front. This is the maximum pressure for the tyres.

The thing with the wheel build was to be certain of reliability. I expect I’ll revert to a home built 36H in due course.

I’d been due to re-wire the rear light to tidy away the wire. Now completed and given a wipe down we’re ready for a 100km cycle in the morning to round out 1000km for September.

The Continental Tour Ride tires in 700x47mm (47-622) have a recommended pressure of 45-58psi. Typically run them at ~48-50psi or so.

I went with 36H Shimano Deore XT hubs, but possibly might have done 40H if it had been available. The Velocity Dyad rims go up to 40H. The even wider Velocity CliffHanger goes up to 48H. Either could be a bomb-proof build.

Very satisfied, though. Was a solid, quality build from a shop that made many thousands of wheelsets using high-quality components. On sketchy, occasionally-ratty urban streets, around my area, I've struck my share of small to medium-sized potholes. So far, not a peep from the spokes, and no other issues at all. Had I gone with a bit wider rims, fuller ties, and the same high-grade build, I suspect there would be an even greater safety margin, even without going above the 36H hubs I selected.
