search tip: they made these both for hex head c/w bolts and for allen key c/w bolts. the set in your link is hex head. iirc the changeover from hex head to allen was ~1973. if you have an existing inner you plan to use make sure its bolt holes will be compatible with the outer you purchase.

I'm lurking on this thread because I'm always interested in learning about Stronglight cranks, and I don't think I've ever held a 49d in my hand. When you talk about the difference between the hex-head bolts and the allen-head bolts, am I correct to think that you're talking about the chainring mounting bolts on the 122 mm bolt circle, not the bolts on the much smaller--51 mm or whatever it is--bolt circle where the outer ring is bolted to the crankarm?
Either way, if one had the old-style ring it should be possible to have a machine shop modify it to accept the larger allen-head bolts, yes? Though obviously not the other way around.
