Wow! This thread is from before I was born I think.
@Malte: I think you would be more successful putting your question in the C&V sales forum.
@papik: that's quite a gear range you've got there. Even I could climb the Tourmalet with that.

And while I'm at it, here's another Peugeot:

My wife's '88 Orient Express.

Orient Express.JPG

My black '78 PX-10 is long gone. I also had a nice Pechiny-process Galaxie, one of the 105 aluminum bikes that were recalled here after some frame failures.

And here's a nifty little 650B Helium, manufactured by Peugeot. This one is also long gone.

Heres one, maybe not rare across the pond, but uncommon here in the US.

Not sure what year it is , 1997? or so "Festina Team Replica" "Richard Virenque". Aluminum Frame with Campy Mirage/Veloce/Avanti. Have not found much info on this bike on the net..

Heres what i started with,it was dirty and missing some pieces. Its all torn down and being rebuilt.

I have two Peugeots, a 1984 PSV.....

I've had this PSV since I bought it new in 1984.
Modded it up quite a bit through the years with the addition of tubular wheels the last, most recent mod so far....
....and I have this:

A 1984 PY10FC....
Had been a grail bike for me since I saw them in magazine ads and pro race pics in the 80's and now one of my favorites in my stable.

Seein' as how the most recent build in my basement is a Peugeot I s'pose I ought to post it and its siblings.

'83 PFN-10

UO-8 I bought new in late 1972, I think. Maybe it was '73. Or an early '73 model. Somebody here will probably correct me. It has been through upgrades and downgrades. Here it is in 2011. It wears it upgrades again now.

Of course there is our much-ridden '83 TH-8.

How did I end up with three Peugeots?
@Chombi1, those are nice. I always thought that paint/decal scheme was really cool.

I have owned a few Peugeots, both French and Canadian made...

Canadian...

The only one I have and really want is the one that I have now. What a great bike my 1973 PX10E has proved to be...

crank addict-

Those Super Competitions are a remarkable ride. My old one on tubulars was very sensitive to body English. Be careful how you moved because you went there as quick as thought. Exhilarating!

Those bikes/frames were very popular race bikes in the early 80's. I purchased mine as a junior racer and was still racing on it on occasion ten years later. They were very well aligned and very durable, even if some of the cosmetics were left a little rough. You are dead right that they did seem to sense the direction you were thinking and then went there...Still, I never found them to be twitchy as some "criterium" bikes were, and they were quite stable in the sorts of races where somebody seemed to be constantly leaning on you or bumping you....

I looked for one of these in good shape off and on for 30 years...and finally found one in the proper size several years ago....To quote Phil Anderson on them, "They're pretty scarce on the ground"...It's a 1982 Pro 10. I bought it for occasional use, but primarily as a collectible. It rides so well, that I take it out way more frequently than I had anticipated....

Dang!, that's exactly (correct size too) the Peugeot I am looking for to add to my Peugeot stable.....
That's the frameset made by their special factory workshop. Very similar or maybe even more special(?) than Raleigh SBDUs.
Been looking around for a while already and like you said. they are rare, especially on good condition as I suspect most were used in competition by pro teams....
Beautiful Peugeot!!

Beautiful Peugeot!!
Thank you for the kind comments. Locating one requires patience and perseverance. Over the years, I passed on several in my size. I have been told that as time went on with the Prestige shop that they had fewer employees. By 1982-1983 there were just 2-3 in the shop. As a group of bikes, one or a couple of the builders liked to leave their 'trademarks"...One of the trademarks is on the rear dropouts. On all of the Pro10s the dropouts are drilled, but there was one builder who would countersink the holes. He also gave a pretty special treatment to the rear brake bridge....Should you be lucky enough to encounter "the one" you know that the opportunity will present itself once and you hope that you are in a situation where you can offer the owner what it is that he is asking to make it happen.
