Dumb ass mistakes

I apologize if the title is too harsh, but I thought it was right for this post. I wanted to replace the rear derailleur and chain on my old mountain bike today.
I stripped the old derailleur, chain and wheel and got a call from my wife to do an errand so I put the wheel back on and took off to take care of the errand.
I got back and was ready to continue. Here's the way I left it. Whats wrong with this picture ?

You are setting yourself up for some real cross-chaining problems.

I took the wheel off and put it back on the right way. So far no more dumb mistakes, but I'm not through yet

The bike is on backwards. Also, it has horizontal dropouts, so you could have made it into a single speed. And why aren't you using the brake cable hanger on the frame?

What's wrong is that you showed it to us.

It's not a mistake until somebody else sees it.

Putting the wheel on at all is the mistake, when there's no chain and derailleur. Doesn't matter which side the gears are on.

I have a knack for mounting tires with the rotational arrow pointing the wrong way. can they make that black on black embossed text & arrow any smaller?

It's just fine if you're only going downhill.

It doesn't qualify as a "Dumb ass mistake"... just a minor "ooops"

As an aside, if you'd like to increase the rear braking effectiveness, you can increase the yoke angle (90 degrees is a starting point). Look in Sheldon Brown for an explanation of the physics.

I see quite a few old cantis that look like that, and it's easy enough to tune them up a bit.
