Not racing.
Absolutely not. Ride the saddle you like on the bike you like. Brooks is appropriate on anything.

The B17 Narrow shape is my favorite. Regular B17 is too wide and chafes my thighs, Pro is too rounded on top. If all of my saddles disappeared overnight, I'd replace them with B17Ns.

It works well for me on a bike with drop bars (upper body <60°) for positions >60° i prefer the regular b17.
