Wondering about an odd accessory
Hello,
I happened on this picture from Cycling UK of a trike that appears to carry a removable rear rack with quick-release and a Brompton block fitted at its end:
I understand it could simply be attached to the seatpost of a regular bike, but how could it be used on a trike?
Thank you.

A couple of things. First their is no pedal in the right crank arm, so maybe the rider has only one leg. Second the rack just needs to be rotated forward for it to work if it is in the way of pedaling. It is attached to the tube that holds the front derailleur.

Bikes are okay, I guess.

Perhaps it is acting as a foot rest for the rider's right leg and foot.

Custom made parts
Pointed forward fitted with the Brompton front bag you already own.
(its just turned sideways in the picture)
lacking context..
I see the SP logo, Might be Steve Parry , an individual with a Shop in his House
or Garden Shed..
a veteran modifier of Bromptons . he has built a Tandem from 2 Brompton frames welded together, Picture in 'the Brompton Book'
taken at a BWC meet-up.
looks like it would fit standing on end in the hall closet with the winter coats..
Handlebar masts, with suspension, Clamp on front derailleur mounts ..
and so on...

My thoughts too. For some reason the right leg is not being used, so they added a foot rest. Perhaps this is also a reason for the trike choice vs upright, or 2 wheeled recumbent.
Even the photo seems to show ONE FOOT, apparently setup to ride, probably with cleats.
With the strap, it could also be configured to carry accessories such as a crutch or wooden leg where they are easily accessible.

We Guess, from Abroad
Article link is about negotiating chicanes, used to block non bicycles from restricted access forest paths
if you have a trike ..
perhaps the owner adapted the SP made piece , made for other purposes, for their own needs..

Although, for the first photo on the page:
It is quite possible the recumbent tricyclist would head straight trough without even slowing down. Perhaps a head duck at the critical moment.

I'm interested in how the Brompton block was fit onto the rack, because it could be an easy way to hang a Brompton bag onto the front of a Strida.
For those of you living in the UK: Is SP a local brand? Google didn't help.
I wondered if it were a sticker from Steve Parry :-p

Edit: Here's the idea, with a Topeak rack instead. It might be possible to hold the Brompton block with a big bolt from the inside.
