Schwinn Continental??? Looks like it's led a rough life, that what's there is itself a repaint. Also, I'd be scared of the junction between the seat tube and bottom bracket:

That crack was actually pretty common back in the day with Schwinns like the Suburban, Varsity, Continental, etc that used that electroweld process, I use to see that a lot which is why I never thought much of those types of Schwinns. Of course kids were riding a lot of those and they were abused but still the process was not a very sturdy one which is opposite of what most people would have thought who didn't live back then and rode those bikes like I did and a lot of friends did.

I'll have to agree. Put a few cracks in those frames myself. I think those armor plated rims encouraged the abuse. You just didn't take your Bob Jackson out on the fire trails...

Continentals did crack through the seat tube just above the BB shell. Mine did back in the mid-'70s. This, however, is not a Continental unless someone brazed on under-BB cable guides and different bridges and repainted the frame. Stickermouflage is my guess.

Folks, it's not a Schwinn Continental. Look at the auction. The owner put Schwinn and Continental decals on as a joke.

Why do bikes like this always come around when I am absolutely broke? I would love a Hellenic frame and would love this pink Shogun but the timing is just awful.

If you don't know, Cramerotti was a fairly well known canadian brand that made solid bikes in the day.
To clarify, if anyone is interested in this and not discouraged by the BB area, Cramerotti was a Vancouver-based Canadian marque that sold contract-built Italian-made frames. They sold a lot of nice bikes.

This seller's claim that this bike is a mix of stainless and EL OS under the paint is interesting...it's certainly possible, and presumably a quick stripping of the existing paint could confirm/disconfirm this and the seller's claim that the crack in the BB pic is only the paint. If these claims don't check out, and you take the trouble to do this quickly - not as described, right?.

You'd just have to be prepared either to get on this right away, or to accept some risk.

Italian flag on the TT is a Billato signature feature, IIRC(?), so might be a clue as to the contract builder in this particular case...

That is beautiful. I wish I had the money to waste on having a Hellenic Mixte built by Hetchins

@smontanaro @rekmeyata
reread my post or the ebay listing. it's not a schwinn.

and seller claims the BB issue is just superficial paint cracking. if it turns out to be more serious, you are protected by ebay and can ship back on their dime for refund. id be trying to snatch this up had it fit me.

I know it isn't a Continental. I read the ad. The "???" was my my abbreviation of "I can't believe the owner did that!" I'm still put off by the crack at the junction of the seat tube and bottom bracket.

I wonder why that Fuji has older 6spd wheels, derailleurs and shifters.

They're wrong on the year (1987- not an '84), but this looks like a sweet ride.

[h=2]Schwinn High Sierra - $150 (Maple Grove, MN)[/h]Schwinn High Sierra

1984 Schwinn High Sierra in good condition. This was my daily commuter the last two years. I installed Continental Travel Contact Kevlar tires and this thing rolls like a dream. Also included rear rack, bottle holder and seat bag. Tires were $90 alone and these bikes are very good quality as Giant made this model for Schwinn for only two years and the components are very good quality and bike is still original with the exception of the tires.

$150.00

A clean budget rider. Located near Bloomington IL.

Classic Road Bike

Classic Road Bike - $180 (Clinton) < >

1971 Raleigh Record in amazing condition. (U.K.) 27" wheels, 25" rust free frame.
I'm going to estimate this bike has less than 100 miles on it and 20 to 30 years of very dry storage.
Hub, crank and fork bearings have been cleaned, repacked and adjusted
New tires, tubes, chain, cables and tape. All original components in smooth operating condition.
I've installed a set of textured rim wheels to improve braking and lighten things up a bit (pic3).
I am including the original wheelset and the petrified leather sling style saddle. (pic 4).
$180 / $130 without wheels in case you want to go the 700c route. Price is firm, may consider your non-rust bomb, non Walmart bike trade in.
Please have photo ID for test ride, green money for purchase. Delivery available after the sale.
