I just called it a 9 as it was not quite the 10.25lbs they called the 10. I won the frame ( was allowed to order exactly what I wanted size/fit/) ordered everything else the way I wanted it. Never had any luck with bontragger seats, tried a bunch when I ordered P1 Domane but in end switched it out for Toupe. As for wheels, I have had zero issues with the RXL TLR on my Domane but wanted to try the DA as I prefer aluminum brake track over all carbon.

OK, so it's sort of a Project One. That's explains it.

I was originally gonna get the Bontrager 40mm carbon wheels, but when I told the LBS I like the idea of having a set of alloy wheels for the trainer and bad weather, they offered me a killer price on the Zipps.

I'm interested in your comparison of of the two bikes since both are high end with DA Di2.

I went with the Paradigm RXXXL saddle since my Madone had a Paradigm RL saddle. Same shape, just lighter.

My Domane is Ultegra Di2 but I am also keen to do some long ride comparisons once spring arrives. On the rollers I'm very excited with the SLR, even though rollers don't tell much. So far the SLR spins up faster, wheels make it noticbly faster, DA is a touch quieter and smoother than the Ultegra.

Right now the SLR is set up to duplicate fit on Domane. I intend to lose the spacers once I can ride and adjust prior to cutting. Will get good week of riding in Arizona week after next but will only make small adjustments. Once I can get on road here in March I can take spacers out 1 at a time to see how it goes then cut. I live in flat country, a 150 km ride gains 300-400 ft at best. My Domane is set up for flat 53/39 - 11/25. SLR is 52/36 - 11-28 I did this so that when I travel the SLR gives me flexibility for hills without changing anything.

i have found the Domane to be extremely comfortable and so far on the rollers I'm finding the SLR no different. A good 100km Road ride on each should be good comparison, I can't wait to do this and see if any noticeable difference comfort wise.

Only rode it once for 20 miles. Very fast, very agile and very light in the handling. I'm also quite impressed with the Red 22 shifting.

Nice bikes. I've got my eye on a SL8 the shop has. Full Dura Ace and very light.

I've got the white S5, my brother in law has the orange/black S5. They're both gorgeous. I like the white more, it has a speckle/metallic paint job and it's ****ing beautiful. It's really classy, and doesn't get wet stains and grease like all the Matte black Emonda's. I got mine for $1600 and it's an incredible package for the price. I'm saving up for an SL 6 though, higher carbon and full fork, maybe just stay with SL 5 since 105's are fantastic.

Some great photos and stories on the bikes. I was thinking about the s5 with 105 until I did more digging and found it was h2 and not h1. Looking to upgrade from my 06 Madone 5.2 sl, which I think still climbs and jumps off the line nicely, to something newer.
And this board is awesome, btw!

If you have a Madone 5.2, you should get a SL6 or better if you want a true upgrade.

The S and SL only come in H2. If you want H1 you'll need to get a SLR.

Yeah, after more digging I realized the S5 while newer isn't much if an upgrade over my Madone.

I just replaced my 2012 Madone 4.6 with a Emonda SLR. I felt the SL was not enough of a upgrade.

I looked at a few - s5 and the sl6 and honestly, felt not an upgrade over my Madone. Which right now is tough. I want to upgrade but Keep it around 2K or so. Which will be impossible. Maybe I'll just stick with my Madone for another season, see how I like road racing (to go along with my mtb xc races) and go from there.

Just picked it up today. 2015 Emonda SL6 upgraded with Race Light wheelset.

What does a SL6 weigh?

I was at a LBS and they had one hanging, so I took it down to see how different it is from my SLR. It seemed pretty heavy so I asked if they had a scale but they couldn't find it.

Mine is probably around 16.5 or 17 with cages and pedals, but I will put it on a scale tonight and let you know.

My Madone 4.6 weighs 17.2lbs and this SL6 seemed heavier. It was bare with only plastic "test ride" pedals added.

I was surprised that it seemed heavy.

The ride begins, 25 miles uphill, the SLR was up to it, just needed to see if I was. Made the journey south last week to friends place in Tucson. The airline lost the bike on way down there! As you can imagine, I was one unhappy camper, how the hell can they lose a huge red box on a direct flight???? Just leave to Air Canada they can lose anything! After a sleepless night and a lot of phone calls it arrived in Phoenix and I asked them to fly it to Tucson rather than courier it and I picked it up late in aftn of day 2. We got in 2 - 30 mile rides and a 60 miler the day before Mt. Lemmon. The Emonda performed perfectly, it rides very comfortably on the poor roads of Arizona (a lot of dirt,sand,rocks). The temperature was great, up to 90 couple of days.

A few months back, I test rode and weighed the SL8 Dura Ace in a 56cm frame. It came in right where advertised at 15.6 lb. The SLR8 is advertised at 13.6 lb. with the same groupset. The lighter wheels, tires, headset, handlebars and stem on the SLR cover about 1.4 lb. of the difference, leaving not a huge gap for the frame and fork to cover. With the RED group and a lighter set of wheels, the SL is easily a sub 15 lb. rig.
