Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Recent purchases

This is what happens when I go away for the summer and the purchases accumulate at the office!

Notice the friendly message in yellow from my office manager who decided to have a little fun with the boxes (that's my office door behind the stack of boxes).

IMO, best bang for the buck from Campy's EPS lineup. I believe Campagnolo will be releasing their 30mm spindled cranksets, along with the new slimmer, internal battery sometime next month.

If the shop works with me, I might not have as many choices...if they don't, I most likely will go with campy if I piece a bike together. The cinelli frame I wanted sold out, so I started looking at the De Rosa Merak as well based on how much I like your bike.

we do plenty of mountain biking out west during the summer. This is in my office in FL, so its mostly road bike gear and shop tools I picked up in some online summer sales that I could not pass up.

Got some new shoes, the Shimanos just weren't for me. Went to LBS to get the Comp shoes, ended up with these that were the same price on discount (2012 model). Went for a quick spin, and what a difference a pair of shoes can make...

Normally a black and white guy myself, but it seemed ugly enough to try.

Bought a bunch of tubes after I managed to hit a chunk of the road that was missing while biking home in the dark with a dying light. I'd never blown both tubes at the same time before

Yes, your LBS will have the 2014 catalog if you pay them a visit. There's not much on the interwebs though. Here are a few of the tarmac's

MSRP is $3500, it's not anything special... part of the 2014 Specialized line, I just got my grubby paws on one in the first shipment from Taiwan? (or wherever they make them)

Picked up a couple of tubes and Co2 cannisters at my LBS. Bought Mavic OPs w/Ultegra hubs and a new Ultegra cassette 12-25 last week - First ride with the new gear was Monday.

I bought a used 54cm Giant TCR bike so my kid's friend can come and ride with us. First ride this past Tuesday that went really well, did 14 miles and he actually got up a bunch of hills. First time the kid has been on a bike in 8 years.

In the photo you posted it appears to be neon-yellow-greenish, but in the other photo it looks to be yellow-orange which would be far more acceptable. Definitely post a color accurate photo when you get it please.

hopefully it's more of a yellow green... It's listed as "Hyper yellow/asphalt/blue"

Took a risk, company closed up shop last week. I'm expecting the product to be fine, but definitely a bit of a gamble.

The thought of bringing my bike to new places where I normally wouldn't be able to even exercise is getting me pretty hyped up. I paid a really good price on Wiggle, so hopefully it ships and arrives on time(its oversized).
