Enough with the black-on-black... day-glo and color are going pro tour.

Figuring you brought it up...I despise "murdered out" anything...bikes, motorcycles, cars...whatever, they all look like lumps of coal rolling down the road. Never understood this trend...

Sometimes it's about shucking superficial means of creating visual interest and placing emphasis form, instead. Sometimes it's about masking a form that's not very attractive. When it comes to bikes, I see "nude" carbon frames as purposeful, no frills.

Murdered out bikes/cars are boring to me. No pizazz. Life is too short for something so bland and somber looking. I want color! Bright popping color! Okay fine, they are just tools anyway. And who am I to talk? My primary car is black (got a great deal on it) but my other is a beautiful metallic Jeep green.

As for the original question, this is the first time that I actually love Cervelo's paint. Lusting over the new S3, bad.

Yes, the black on black and everything black just says "I have no sense of taste, no style".

^^^ You're going to knock others for having no taste or style and then offer *those* as examples of taste and style? At least the top Colnago is using complementary colors (the scheme is still silly and not very pleasing, IMO), but the others are... ick. No.

Seriously. See, while red isn't exactly "original" either, this looks much better than those:

.... But at least they have a personality. Don't look generic at all.

Or heck, I just put this pic in Addiction, but it goes well here too:
If I were the sort to ride to a coffee shop and lean the bike against the wall, that's one I'd want for that duty.
With a different saddle, clearly.

I'd like to see clear coated carbon fibre frames so you could see the weave, it's been that way in the motorcycling world for decades.
I love the black with white lettering and stripes on my 14 roubaix.

Orange is the best color for a bike.
All black bikes are unimaginative and boring.

"[Does't] look generic," is faint praise if ever I've heard it. You can use color to give a bike more personality, and that personality doesn't have to be schizophrenic. Baum is my gold standard for color with class. Too bad we're talking about frame prices that start north of $5k...

I was sick of black bikes when I bought my (black) bike in 2011. I would love to see purple make it to the forefront....just sayin'.

My issue with that is that bare aluminum would be just as purposeful but is almost unheard of. It makes me think the "purity" of clearcoated carbon is just a happy coincidence for the "murder it out" crew.
As for the original question, this is the first time that I actually love Cervelo's paint. Lusting over the new S3, bad.
