I was there, W4. We went out on the first wave, in the morning, and therefore missed that hellacious wind that afternoon. It's a great course, lots of fun, and well run. There's a even a stretch of "pave" in there for when you think the road isn't chewed up enough!

They ought to test bottle cages on that road. Or dental filling glue.

That'll go over great I'm sure! =]

This is how it goes:
Matt: Eric?
Eric: Yeah, what's up?
Matt: Rkwaki (would provide you with my real name) says hey and wondered if you might give him a call
Eric: Rkwaki? Holy Crap it's been a while, you have a number?
Matt: I sure do as I think he is the most awesome dude in the entire Internet world
Eric: Thanks, maybe one day you'll be as fast as me

I have no social filter and will walk up to anyone and shoot the breeze.
There was a pro team that was riding a frameset that we were moving to and I Facebooked a guy on their team and struck up a conversation. Next thing you know I have a standing invite to go train with him if I am on that side of the country (he has now left for Europe) and I'm too fat to ride with him
Then I am looking at some race pics and he and I are beside each other on the start line at a race.
Sometimes you just have to put yourself out there.
People are just people, I have trash talked people way more accomplished than I am...

To get on Eric's good side maybe try to bribe him with some molson and hockey memorabilia. Chuck's report was pretty spot on, super windy and guys cracking everywhere. The results page doesn't do it justice, 28th-62nd listed as finishers were either way OTB or a full lap down just riding it out for training.

I'm certainly not a scientist. Engineers find cost-effective solutions to problems, and that's more or less what I do.
And what is a "faculty" school anyway?
Also I like how this thread is so derailed.

The term engineer carries with it certain legal and ethical implications. I don't see why you can't call yourself a computer scientist; even if you never do research or anything novel -which I bet you do- you are still a scientist, it's just applied science.
Faculties are branches within a university (medicine, engineering, science, arts, etc). Computer engineers go to the faculty of engineering and basically become specialized electrical engineers. Programmers go to the faculty of science and become software architects or code monkeys.

This is a dumb argument. But you should read this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_engineering
Also, just because someone codes doesn't make them a "code monkey".. there's a lot more that goes in to writing programs than just coding.
Computer Scientists create new algorithms and do research.. I just employ the right algorithms and approaches at the right time (in a cost-effective manner).
Also, Texas and a few other states allow one to get an official "Professional Engineer" title/certification for software, so you might want to tell them they're wrong too..
Anyway, my degree's title has "Engineering" in it - not "Science" - but I'm not sure any of this really matters.

Back on track.. I do plan on doing Copperopolis, I'll make sure to bolt down my water bottles!! (and tighten my fillings)
