One that I picked up this spring... It's a '64 according to the date codes. I don't have a pic of the whole bike, so this will have to do...

Some really nice bikes here. This is my 1988 Panasonic MC1500 which is my commuter. Have cleaned up and all since this pic, but mostly the same.

We've got a few, but this is my favorite. Umberto Dei Imperiale Uomo. Yeah it is heavy, especially with a Sunday paper on the back. But once you get it moving...

My black Masi was one of a special all black edition. Perhaps it was your bike that inspired it? They were built with Columbus SL instead of Reynolds 531, and originally equipped with Dura Ace. I'm not sure how many they made. I'm thinking edition meant like 3 or 4. I did see another one once, in Santa Cruz IIRC. I was told mine was made by Keith Lippy. Presumably they all were.

Here's another pic for this year's edition of December is Black Bike Month.

1986 Schwinn Sierra in Black Chrome. This the closest thing I have to a black bike. I have owned it since it was new.

Now thats class!
I see the rod brakes but where's the linkage for the rear? Some sort of bell crank at the tire pump??

The linkage is cleverly hidden in a drive side picture. It actually runs down the left side of the downtube to a pivot at the BB, then up behind the pump to the linkage just above the pump top. Plus, the long connecting rods are black.

A 1960s Bertin C 37 converted into a randonneuse. It's black, it's December and it has been shown before but not with these modifications.

I guess I have another black bike....Eddy Merckx 2000 Strada OS 20th Anniversary Edition - Campy 8 speed mixed. Just for information I threw 8 speed exa-drive cogs on to the 9-10 speed Mavic/Campy freehub, and because its made of steel, it actually works great, just need a 9/10 speed lockring.
