Merry Christmas - Wish Me Luck

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Merry Christmas - Wish Me Luck

Merry Christmas to all and happy holidays. Hope you have a great time.

I'm celebrating Christmas in grand style with my new build. I'm climbing Mt Hamilton and then Quimby Road on my new Raleigh RXC Pro. Hey if you have a 16 pound bike, you have to see how it climbs!

Then this will be me descending

I hope to hit 50+ mph just to see what it feels like.

It appears by your shadow on the video that it is a riser bar bike. 50mph with riser bars is pretty intense!

Be safe!

I reached 48 mph on a bike once. That was enough.

I once hit 52 drafting a tandem. Not something I ever want to do again.

Hope you had warm clothes on, it was pretty cold at the top of Mt Ham today, making descents not very pleasant...

Been up/down Quimby a few times on a motorcycle. Don't think I'd want to descend that one without disc brakes. Very steep with some switchbacks and not great pavement. Good for the thrillseekers.

I had to draft a semi in a blizzard leaving my grandma's Christmas Eve in my car the night my girlfriend died, Then I did it on the way back after she called and told me my girlfriend had died five minutes after I left.

Been in a ditch twice, and a field. All in a car. I got my rear wheel tacoed once by a driver looking and just pulling out and I've had a kid look at me, stop and dart out as I pulled onto the road.

I've laid the bike down on a hill and had road rash when the pedal sheared off (near the hospital thank god) and I had the bottom bracket break loose, hit the ground that stretch the frame out to ruination at speed (I was able to stop standing)...

Something I ate years ago or a microbe is probably going to get me. Stop worrying about death and make sure that your children have some financial and familial assistance when you do go because it was guaranteed when the first homeowners violated the gardening bylaws of their HOA and were kicked out.
