Tubeless tires on older clincher wheels

I知 confused by the info I am finding online. I知 confused by tubeless rims, tubeless ready rims. So.

Can you run tubeless tires on any clincher wheelset by adding rim tape and tubeless valve stems?

You should be able to use them like any other clincher tire with a tube, but you need tubeless-compatible rims to run them tubeless.

I've gotten lucky with a couple of non-tubeless rims, I've had other combos blow tires right offa the rim or just burp all of the time.

Currently running WTB Vigilante 2.3 TCS tires on Alex FR30 rims (most definitely NOT tubeless), and it's been GREAT!

For more info on tubeless setups on non-tubeless rims, the correct search term is the politically incorrect "ghetto tubeless."

Had excellent success with Stan's kits (probably almost exactly like the "ghetto tubeless" mentioned above and "whatever rims" in the early days of tubeless. Have since switched back to tubes).
