Just about given up the bike . .

Totally addicted to Les Mills' "The Trip". You have to book in to ride; the one at my Gym is only one of four in the UK. Instructors have to be certified, and it's brutal!

Honestly, I'm a tad fed up of the risks on the road and indeed cycletracks aren't much better. But it'll be good going over Kirkstone Pass again soon, the weather's right for that now; and it'll be interesting to see if this other stuff has helped.

I'll know when I do it. The last bit up The Pass had me pushing the damn bike, that was two years ago. thought maybe those days were over now.

Might not be . . . and if we have a good summer . . . . I could be busy on both bikes!

It would be unfair and intellectually dishonest of me to judge something I've never heard of - could be a great riding experience. IMHO, riding indoors is just boring. Maybe this is something different. I'm inside all week at work, 50 plus hours and look forward to being outdoors in fresh air in a space larger than an office suite.

No cars, no pot holes, no suicidal squirrels, no dogs, no wind......what's the point?

Lancaster... what? California... UK....
Sell your bike now. Book into spin cycling with 3D virtual reality glasses.... and ride with females.
Do they have a sunlamp and fan to get a good headwind?

The virtual cycling universe has it's appeal. It's better than an outdoor ride in dangerous vehicular traffic or with a dangerous or slow cyclist. It's also better than a race orientated group, if you're a recreational cyclist, like me, who is not interested in racing.

Why not enjoy the best of both indoor and outdoor cycling?

Wouldn't matter if it did. Would be preferable to being soaked in sweat . . . .THAT is the downside!
And, of course, the women show me up for what I am . . . .an endangered species here.

Poorly engineered yes. If they are designed properly, to CROW specs, they are quite wonderful (and safe and efficient). Blackfriars is a good example, it's OK and possibly the best in the UK, but it is still short of CROW minimums.

Dont give up cycling. If you set you rust.

Maybe go to a trike. You can go at any speed you can maintain without falling over. On steep hills, you can stop rest, still clipped in, and they start pedaling again.

I looked at the demo video - fun! Unfortunately, I use my bike for transportation so virtual won't work for me.

Trouble is, the specs don't involve themselves in who actually uses them! Like, lots o' people. walking side by side wi headphones on. and dogs, motorbikes, horses with or without traps, and those darned Electric Cycles! they're the Silent Assassin which taint our pavements . . . .

Don't start me on them . . . somebody else can do that ha ha Coffee called for. . . .

I have to say, I cycle mainly to meet people. I love to explore and we have a very bike friendly environment (aside from embarrassment when neighbors with concern in their voices ask if I need a ride going up the nasty hill before our home...). Stopping to chat with people along the way is a great excuse for a break.

Then again, I live in the frontier of a 3rd world country... in the tropics, so not exactly what most of you put up with.
