Whats your preference? does longer/shorter reach affect handling?

Reach, going from a short reach of 75mm to normal reach ~85-90 isn't going to make much difference. Your stem length has bigger impact on handling, although I went from a 100 mm stem to a 70 mm on and don't notice any difference in handling, but I don't race crits.
